5.0 out of 5 stars They grew!
These are lemon grass seeds for the grass that is commonly used as a seasoning in South Asian cooking. (The Fire Bowl chain of restaurants has a coconut milk soup called Yom Ka which uses lemon grass.)

1.0 out of 5 stars Got seeds, NO grass...
These seeds never grew! Not even one of them came up. Everything else I have purchased and planted from Amazon.com, has more than meet my expectations. This was a real let down. Waste of money...

These are lemon grass seeds for the grass that is commonly used as a seasoning in South Asian cooking. (The Fire Bowl chain of restaurants has a coconut milk soup called Yom Ka which uses lemon grass.)

These seeds came up fine, even in 108 degree Austin heat. Start them in a pot of well-mulched, loose dirt that has a clear plastic bag over the top to create a minature greenhouse. (Translucent grocery produce bags will do.) They won't sprout unless they are humid, not wet.

I have little green shoots of lemon grass from these. So far, so good.

Most of the web sources on sprouting and growing lemongrass seeds claim that the seeds are hard to germinate, take over a month to sprout and have a poor germination rate.

I was pleasantly surprised when the majority of my seeds germinated within a week of planting. I planted them in a standard seed tray with a moisture dome and placed them in a southern window. They sprouted within a week. The temperatures have been in the high 70, low 80.

I am very pleased with this product.

The lemon grass grew fast (potted inside and moved outside once established). Almost every seed germinated. Highly recommend.

I have bought a lot of seeds from Hirt's and they are the BEST prices. I wasn't sure if they would be good, but they are AWESOME!! Produce nice healthy plants immediately! Very pleased. I'm in the process of ordering others.

I planted 3 of these seeds after receiving them in the mail and all 3 have sprouted, and quickly too. I ordered other seeds from Hirt's and these were the first to pop up. So far so good.

5.0 out of 5 stars david's non-hybrid herb lemon grass, January 12, 2012
This review is from: David's Non-Hybrid Medicinal Herb Lemon Grass 200 Seeds per Packet
I was a bit worried about getting these seeds to germinate as I had read that they may be difficult to start. No need to worry. Just 5 days and I have a few blades of grass peeking out of the soil. I only planted about 1/3rd of the packet so this is even more impressive. Highly recommend.

I planted 10 vases with this one package of seeds and all of the 10 have sprouted. I hope they all survive as large plants, but so far really satisfied with the seeds...

Have not planted the seeds yet but am excited about getting these little babies going. I hope I can plant them in a pot and keep it in a window inside. Will let you know how that goes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, September 15, 2011
This review is from: David's Non-Hybrid Medicinal Herb Lemon Grass 200 Seeds per Packet
I planted my seeds straight in the ground in early April. They grew and grew.

We have harvested it and have been using it in a tea for my leg which has been doing some swelling.

The swelling is coming down.

5.0 out of 5 stars They Came Up!!, August 18, 2011

I purchased these about a week and a half ago. I live in a condo, therefore I have an indoor garden, so to speak. I have a plant that wasn't doing well, but decided to keep the pot and soil, and the plant, and to plant the seeds with the plant. This morning, I noticed little blades of lemongrass sprouting up in about four areas. VERY HAPPY. Will try to follow up with another review later.
