This tea has good body, excellent flavor and very good color. Rooibos is best brewed at 190F, allowing for steeping from 3 to 5 minutes tops. It has zero caffeine and reportedly has 50 times the antioxidants of green tea. It also has anti-inflammatory and calming properties and hence makes the perfect bedtime tea. Also makes great iced tea, either by itself or in combination with other teas (as I make).
There's plenty of tea in each bag, as much as you're used to with big brand teas sold in the U.S. Years ago I bought two different brands of Rooibos. The Celestial Seasonings Rooibos was great; the Hy-Vee store brand Rooibos was undrinkable, with an off taste. Davidson's is a smooth, full-flavored Rooibos, very much to my liking.
I like a cup at night, sometimes before I go to bed, and I'm not fond of decaf tea. Since I'm a lazy sort, I put a mug of water and a Rooibos tea bag in it in the microwave and zap it for a minute + 40 seconds or longer. Then I let it brew for about 5 minutes. This step is crucial if you want a strong, full-bodied tea. You can put a saucer on top your mug so it doesn't lose heat.
Davidson's Organic South African Rooibos came in a sturdy packing box, a cardboard tea box inside that, and a zipper lock plastic bag holding the teabags for freshness.
This is an enjoyable drink at a superb price, and I couldn't be happier with it.
It was an excellent purchase for the price and I'm glad to inform you that there where in fact 100 tea bags.
I decided to give Davidson's a chance since it was so cheap. Now I understand why it's so cheap. It is extremely weak tea. 2 bags of Davidson's is still not equal to 1 bag of Choice. Maybe 3 or 4 bags is more like it.
I actually ended up throwing out my most recent cup of Davidson's because I had left 2 old bags in there, along with 2 new bags (so 4 bags in total) thinking that maybe I could suck more tea out of the old bags (something I did quite often with the other brands). But the joke was on me because what the tea ended up tasting like was the bags themselves with just a hint of tea.
I feel that drinking this brand of rooibos tea is more like drinking plain water with just the hint of tea flavor. I doubt I will drink the remaining 96 bags I have left but will instead use them for my tired eyes when I go to bed at night.
