It also makes my hair very soft.
Jamie Currier
It smells like cheap floral fragrance mixed with baby powder, which I find very off-putting.
S. E. Facci
It did a really good job preventing color fade in my dyed dark red/brown hair.

I had heard rave reviews about the Davines Alchemic Conditioners but finally decided to bite the bullet last week and try the Copper color for myself. I have strawberry blond hair that, in all honesty, doesn't see a salon more than once or twice a year. I've used this product twice since receiving it last week and love what it did for my hair - it adds a nice, natural color boost and left my hair really soft and shiny without weighing it down. It has a nice earthy smell, nothing too strong or perfume-y. The only (small) downside was that the product temporarily turned my palms orange but this could be easily remedied by using gloves or scrubbing my hands with sea salt afterwards. You definitely don't get a large quantity for the price but a little goes a long way.

I dye my hair a medium-coppery red. I use it about once a week, admittedly not always per directions because I am lazy. I've been dying my hair this color for a long time so I am used to how it fades. I'm over a month out from my last dye-job and my hair look more like it does at the two week mark. When I use it properly it gives my hair a little extra glow for about a day, so it's great to use before an event or date. My roots are starting to show but they're nice and warm, and hard to see.
It also makes my hair very soft. I wouldn't suggest using this every time as it is deep conditioning.
The copper color seems to be better for those with a more natural red look, so I'm glad I didn't go with Red. I may purchase that next as my under-layer is a plum brown and I think this might dull it (I currently section it off). This is a good way to add warmth to your color.
While it takes globs to do the job, I have barely made a dent in it, so you get your money's worth.

When I bought this I tried to save my severely faded hair and grown out roots. I used it twice, and while it warmed my roots a little it didn't do much. It is NOT a miracle product, but it is a good one when used properly.

I have naturally red/auburn hair so I cannot attest to this conditioner helping color last but for natural redheads this is definitely something worth trying if your color seems to be dulling. I absolutely love my color but lately its been darker and a little more dull than normal, probably because of the dreadfully long winter in the midwest. I read a blurb about this product in a magazine and decided to check it out. I agree with other reviews that the smell is not extraordinarily appealing but I feel with normal scented shampoo and conditioner the smell is not overbearing. I tried using just a small amount on a portion of my hair to see if I could tell the difference and after about 10 minutes the portion of hair with the conditioner was a brighter color. The results are not drastic but it does seem to add some brightness and added color. I am definitely excited to try this on my entire head!

Being a person that absolutely loved the color of Aveda Annatto I was so hoping this would be a nice substitute color-wise, but I'm a little disappointed with my first use of it in that regards, it didn't come close, however the conditioning of it is far superior to Aveda. The term so close and yet so far away applies to this product and Aveda both, at least as far as I can say.. I am a hair dresser so I do write this review objectively. Aveda was very disappointing in the realm of conditioning which I remedied with applying a preferred conditioner in the shower after I used it, which did not bother me whatsoever. The Aveda appears to have much more plant extracts than Davines and with Aveda the color can be seen in under 5 minutes and in only 1 treatment, where as after putting the Alchemic Copper by Davine on in the shower for 10 minutes it barely showed on my hair, I am going to wait and use it for a month and update this review. I am absolutely in love with the feel of my hair after using it however. It is an amazing conditioner and I do highly recommend it for that. For me on my first use of it I did have to actually get out and towel dry my hair and reapply with a plastic cap for a a half hour just to get more color. I'm hoping it gets better with time because I do love the feel of it. My suggestion is use this for conditioning and a slight brightening and still buy Aveda. I realize that the Annatto, for some ridiculous and unexplained reason was halted in manufacturing, but I am willing to try one of their others combined with this Davines Alchemical Copper. If however at the end of the month my hair is showing more signs of holding the color with Davines then I will just stick with Davines because it really is an awesome conditioner.Read more ›

I've been using this in combination with Tessa Watercolors shampoos in Liquid Copper and Fluid Fire. I don't think that this deposits color in as the same way as the Tessa Watercolors seem to, but I notice when I don't use it my hair color doesn't seem as vibrant. I've been blonde my whole life, just dyed my hair a copper red and didn't realize how hard it was to maintain until I washed my hair for the first time. The only reason I'm a little skeptical about this conditioner is that it definitely has sulfates, so I'm worried it might not be good for my hair. So far (I've been using the product for about a month), my hair appears shiny and healthy. I haven't noticed any feelings of residue that other people mentioned.
