Really helps with keeping moisture down!,

We love ours so much that we purchased another as a gift for a friend. We use this in our motorhome to keep the pipes from freezing in the winter, keep the moisture down and keep our toes warm while camping. Uses very little electricity, just warm enough and no worries about fire hazard.
Wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

We have used these dryers for years. AWESOME product. We have several collector cars that we put them in year round. We use them in them in our RV and in our closet with our leather motorcycle clothing. WAY better than using a light-bulb or heater. Would recommend them to anyone that has a moisture or high humidity problem.

We use this in our bathroom to speed the drying of clothing that we hang to dry after using our little Haier washing machine. This does a pretty good job of removing the moisture from the air. As other reviewers have stated, it also increases the overall temp of the room as well. It doesn't remove as much air moisture as a normal dehumidifier does/would, but then again, this thing is a whole lot easier to store when not in use than a floor standing dehumidifier - an important consideration for those who live in smaller homes and have limited storage space! When not in use, we just put this on a shelf in our linen closet. And it also has helped reduce the mold that likes to creep into our tub/shower. Our bathroom is not as well ventilated as it could be...we're upping the vent fan from 70 CFM to 100 CFM in hopes that there won't be ANY mold. But I plan to put this little thing to work in winter to help with that as well. If you're looking for this type of "appliance", it's a good item for a fair price that does just what it is advertised to do. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that it seems that for the size (about the size of a medium pizza, as another reviewer put it), it should do a better job and remove more moisture, or at least remove the amount more quickly. But this is a very minor nit...don't let it stop you buying this if you're in need of it. UPDATE 12.23.11 We decided to put this in our boat over the winter, to try to keep mold down (we've never experienced MUCH mold, but what we have gotten has been a pain to clean up/clear out each spring). With our mooring cover on our boat, we haven't gone all the way into our boat to do a thorough check, but lifting up the end corner of the mooring cover and cockpit cover, and doing a look-see, we can feel the heat being generated by this little device. Seems to be working well....spring 2012 will tell us the real results. But, having read reviews by others who have used this device to combat mold and humidity (esp. down in Florida), we're confident that this will work well. So if you also have a boat, or any other situation where you're trying to fight mold/mildew, consider this appliance. It's simple, cheap, small, and so far has worked well for every use we've put it to.

This is a good alternative to a full-blown dehumidifier. I'm using it in a garage/shop space converted into an art studio, where I need to keep the air dry for my works on paper. I plugged it in and, sure enough, in a couple of days the air was much dryer and no longer had a dank odor. The space is ~600 sq. ft. so I'm waiting to see how things go when we're in the dead of rainy season (Pacific NW). I may need to add a second unit. All told, I think it's a good investment.

So Many Uses!,

I have an older, square Air-Dryr that I bought in 1989 (?). Living on a houseboat in Seattle, I needed something to take the chilly dampness out of the house. I've kept the Air-Dryer and used it while living elsewhere - to take the chill out of a room I didn't really want to heat; to dry damp clothes that couldn't be put in a dryer. I now live in Florida and mildew would be a problem were it not for the trusty Air-Dryer. It works extremely well. It has no moving parts. It's extremely safe. It uses very little electricity. The thing is a Godsend, and I searched for it online because I had just recommended it to a neighbor. You might think it pricey, but it's worth every penny and you will not be disappointed.

Had a problem with the mildew smell in my 30' motorhome. I use the dry chemical Damp Rid and it just was not cutting it, continued to get the smell. I purchase the Davis 1000 air dryer along with the Damp Rid working in tandem. I am happy with my purchase. No more spraying of Lysol

I bought the product for my basement, and unfortunately, I waited too long to order BECUZ the humidity is now gone. Still, I think I like the idea of something electrical drying the air to remove humidity is wonderful. I did not want to be dealing with a product that required me to pour out water, etc. It is much larger in size than what I expected. And don't think about putting on carpet.

We used 2 davis air dryrs on our boat which is stored in Florida during the long hot summers and we loved it. The boat was dry and clean when we returned in thr Fall each year.
I therefore purchased 2 more air dryrs for my free standing art studio on Eastern Long Island since I have moisture problems during the time it is closed for the winter . I know I will get the same satisfactory results in the studio. |
