3.0 out of 5 stars needs to be more user-friendly in certain areas, January 23, 2011
By
The Davis Drug Guide for Nurses is very inviting in that it is thick, and filled with information (just about everything you can think of concerning the nightmare world that is prescription drugs these days) that nurses and nursing students need on a daily basis. I particularly like the sections that highlight the nursing process, including patient/family teaching. In this world of side effects and critical lab values, this reference comes in very handy to guide the nurse in making good critical thinking decisions. However, there's a downside: this book can take you on a wild goose chase when trying to look up a drug. Some drugs are noted by their brand name only, while others have to be looked up as the generic name, or even chemical name. Furthermore, some drugs index as taking you to yet another name: their drug class. This can be a little frustrating at times, and I think unnecessary. Overall, the book is decent. 6/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Great format, easy to use, February 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is set up in an easy to use format. Locating the information that you need can be done quickly. We had an option of getting one of two books for our class, the students that purchased this book find more of the needed information with out having to look for added sources.
The information given can be easily understood by someone using it at home, but it also has all of the technical information needed for someone in the nursing field. I spent an afternoon with my parents looking up the medications they use, they found it easy to understand and very informative, not confusing or overly technical.

2.0 out of 5 stars Drugs I need not listed, October 31, 2010
I buy a new drug book every 5 years, and this was my 2010 book. The first time I used it, it only had 5 of the 7 drugs I needed. (no PHENERGAN?!). The second time I started and the first drug wasn't in there, so now I just use my old 2005 Lippencott and all is well.
