There are alot of NCLEX - PN books out there for a nursing student to choose from, and the real question is - which one is the best one to get?
Well, I don't know but DAVIS offers a comprehensive bank of thousands of questions and rationals to the questions. I teach in an LVN program and this is the book my class VOTED on to buy in order to best prepare themselves for their NCLEX - PN Exam, coming in to their lives in just a few short months. The questions are moderatly hard - I imagine this is the type of questions that they are most likely to encounter when they go in and do the real state board exam in a few months. I feel that the pre-chapter reviews of all body sections and psychology and OB and Pediatrics is a very big bonus to this book. There is also a CD test bank, which prepares the student for the ON-LINE computer version of the test - which all the LVN students must conquer in order to recieve their LVN liscense.
We as a class are taking it a section at a time, in organized fashion, and we will finish the entire book by mid May. YES - it's that good.
Hopefully my class will all pass the state board exam - making it a 100% statistic, and won't that be fun?
Alot of the credit will possibly pass over Davis, sorry to say, because each person is solely and completely respsonbible for their success.
A book alone cannot help a person to pass, but a student who assertively utilizes said book will emerge the victor.

You put together a most comprehensive review book and I think that will be all that my students really need to pass the state board....

I chose this book for my NCLEX review because i liked the format of it. The breakdown of each chapter made it easy to review. It's very "straight to the point" with what you have to know. However, I've come across a lot of errors and contradictions in it which make it unreliable. You would think the writers whom are highly educated nurses and doctors would produce such a book. Again, very disappointing and a waste of your money. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

The book itself is pretty good; the review is laid out very simply and direct. I had such high hopes for this book because the authors of this book are from LSU School of Nursing!! However, I have come across countless errors in the CD, and also in some of the end-of-chapter questions. Kind of disappointing. I passed up Saunders and Kaplan for this book, only to find errors.
