Biography

Manowar is an American heavy metal band whose music embraces the fine tradition of Viking mythological imagery and bloodshed. They earned the Spinal Tapesque pleasure of being included in 1984's Guiness Book of World Records for delivering the loudest performance.

From their debut album, Battle Hymns (1982) to 2007's Gods of War, they have rarely varied the overt machismo which has defined their… Read more in Amazon's Manowar Store

Editorial Reviews

2002’s The Dawn Of Battle single is the only CD which features the brand new songs I Believe and The Dawn Of Battle, which were recorded during the promotion cycle for Warriors Of The World album and are the most current recordings by Manowar. Furthermore, the single features a video documentation of the legendary performance at the Ringfest in 2002 and other enhanced bonus material. In addition, new artwork by artist Ken Kelly makes this single a must for all Manowar fans and collectors. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was taken by surprise! A great treat!, October 14, 2003
This review is from: The Dawn of Battle (Audio CD)
When I was strumming through CD's at a local CD store, my borther pointed this CD out to me called The Dawn Of Battle. He knew that I loved Manowar and that I owned all of their CD's, but he didn't recognize the cover. Neither did I! How did I miss the release of this! I first thought that it was a single to their new album coming out, but when I looked at the year on the CD, it said 2002, so it couldn't be that. I was confused? I bought it because it had two songs I had never heard. I was really pleased with this CD. The two new songs The Dawn Of Battle and I Believe are great! The Dawn Of Battle is much like the song Warriors of the World United, only but faster. I can't believe I didn't know about this CD. This is not a single to a new album coming out. It is just a really short E.P. I wonder why Manowar released this. Manybe just wanted to help feed the hunger of Manowar fans until they finally get around to getting a new album recorded. This little E.P. will tide me over, but I can't wait. If the songs sound like this, it will be great!

This review is from: The Dawn of Battle (Audio CD)
Manowar quickly followed their 2002 opus Warriors of the World with this single, which features two brand new tracks. The Dawn of Battle is a fast stormer in the style of "Fight until we die" and "I Believe" is a very heavy doomy ballad. Is it worth the dough to buy this (sorta) ep as well? One can download it all! ...but also this cd is full of extras, including teasers for their upcoming dvds. That said, the two new songs are not as fresh sounding as the ones on the full length, and one might be dissapointed in the cliched lyrical choices in the new tracks. Buy only if you're a hardcore fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars hail the four kings, December 27, 2004

This review is from: The Dawn of Battle (Audio CD)
This single contains three songs. Call to Arms is a very good Manowar song, but this is exactly the same version as was on the last album. I Believe is a good Manowar song but not good enough to justify recording as a single. But Dawn of Battle is a great Manowar song, and there is nothing better than a great Manowar song. Nothing. Not just nothing in the world of popular music, but nothing, period. Neither love nor sex, neither heaven nor hell, neither science nor religion, and not even ice cream is better than Manowar at their best. Nothing in either the material or spiritual universes is better than a great Manowar song. And Dawn of Battle is a great Manowar song. Therefore, you must value this single as you would value your life. If you do not possess it you are impoverished and I sincerely pity you.
