Not Bad/Not Great,
By Not Your Concern (Best Coast) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dawn (Audio CD)
Here's what you get with this album:
1) Cliche'd riffs straight outta 80's metal. 2) Cliche'd sounds straight outta bands like Thursday or Coheed+Cambria. 3) A singer that can sing. (However the album seems like a mere vehicle for him to sing his head off. The chorus is different each time he sings it and this makes for muddy songs that I'm scared to sing along with.) 4) According to a non-rock music listening friend of mine, the vocals sounds like "something off of American Idol". You tell me if that's good or bad, totally subjective. 5) You do get a handful of cool songs. Honestly for $10 from Amazon it's not a bad deal. 6) The handful of good songs are rather "fun" and grew on me a bit. I think this band has a lot of potential but right now they just sound like cut+paste rockers who decided "hey let's throw in a scream right here" or "hey let's do a little random double-base action here". And the singer I think gives us a too much of a good thing. It's almost like having a rock song that's nothing but guitar solo's for 4 minutes. All this said, I want to emphasize that I think we'll see a lot more of this band in the future. And I don't think this album is lame or you shouldn't buy it. But next time around I hope they really branch out a little more and nail the sound they want. Right now it sounds confused. I'm very open minded about music and I don't need every band to be screaming their head off to think they're cool, and I appreciate a rocker that can croon. But like I've said I think this album is a little scattered. On a side note: I do in fact really like their cover of 3EB's "Jumper" which I believe can still be found on their PureVolume site. Check it out.

Review by Chris Conlan:
Where in the world did this band come from? All that needs to be said is that BEDlight for BlueEYES is going to make a huge mark with their Trustkill debut. Not only does The Dawn feature some of the best vocals to date, but melodies that will keep you listening over and over. From start to finish, this album captivates your senses and just mesmerizes you. Christian Guererro's voice is immaculate. To come across a singer with vocals that have immense range, is one in a million. When listening to the song "Nature Of The Ghost" the combination of Christian's voice intertwined with the instruments is immaculate. The melody would make your 80 year old grandma want to get up and dance and sing along. The Dawn will shock you, awe you, and make you scream for more. BEDlight for BlueEYES is what the music scene needed. You have amazing musicians that know how to create enticing melodies that will never bore you. It is time for BEDlight to shine.

I can't live without this album,
This review is from: Dawn (Audio CD)
I bought it last week and since then it has been a constant in my life. I can't stop listening to it. It is a collection of songs that moves me to no end. I lost my best friend several months ago to suicide, and Ligeia is like a personal lullaby. Thank god for this band. Everyone should have this album.
