Yes kiddies, this IS the non-Goblin music heard in the classic film "Dawn Of The Dead". This has the errie music that is played in the opening moments of the film as well as all the other memorable music cues you heard throughout this zombie masterpiece. This even has the nifty little diddy "'Cause I'm A Man" aka the song that is playing while the National Guardsman and the hillbillies are goin' on a zombie hunt. Get it now I say.

Although the rock group Goblin received on-screen credit for the score for Dawn of the Dead, in reality about two-thirds of the soundtrack for the U.S. version was supplied by various artists from the De Wolfe music library. Said artists included H. Chappell, who composed the memorable "The Gonk," which plays over the film's closing credits and perhaps can best be described as Polka Music From Hell. Another great tune is "'Cause I'm A Man," recorded by The Pretty Things back in their early Electric Banana days. These songs and more are included in this great compilation CD, a must-have for zombie movie lovers everywhere.

As for the sound quality of these tracks, most are excellent. Cosmogony Part 1 comes across as rather muddy-sounding, and Sinestre has a few odd sound artifacts here and there, but the rest, thankfully, are clear and sharp.

A summary of the tracks follows, as well as a brief description of where these tunes can be heard in the U.S. version of the film:

The Gonk - Climax and closing credits music. Also heard during the closing credits of Shaun of the Dead
Cosmogony Part 1 - Plays over the opening credits
Sinestre - The battle inside the tenement building
'Cause I'm A Man - Rednecks vs. zombies
Figment - The music at the abandoned airport, also heard over the opening credits of Shaun of the Dead
Mask of Death - This music actually comes in three parts. Taking them in the order in which they are heard in the film, Part 3 (the last forty seconds) plays when our heroes stop to catch their first breath in the mall. Part 1 (the first minute or so) occurs shortly thereafter. Part 2 (the middle minute and thirty seconds) is heard when Peter and Roger battle their way past zombies into the first store.

This is a must if you own the other soundtrack ZOMBI, aka Dawn Of The Dead. This album has all the other great music cuts from the film that have never been released.

Does this (Dawn of The Dead 1978) tacks have ALL the movies' music?
Yes, I just received this yesterday and it seems to contain all of the music cues that were not featured on the Goblin soundtrack. How awesome to be able to listen to "The Gonk" (the classic muzak piece that plays over the end credits) in the car on the way to work! :-)
