Gates of Ishtar used to be a good tight Swedish metal band. Unfortunately after At Dusk and Forever, they split up. I haven't heard anything on them for about two years.
I looked all over for their albums, and when I came to Amazon.com, i realized they had the double disc with Dawn of Flames and At Dusk and Forever on it. I had to have it.
When I got it, i listened to it immdiately. I was very impressed, especially with the sound on At Dusk and Forever. When i listened to Dawn of FLames first, I was not too impressed with it, i would give that album three stars. The production is not too impressive, the vocals are not that prominent over the music, and the singer(I forget his name) doesn't change pitch too much at all. The guitars are not anything too spectacular, but all in all, I still liked the songs on Dawn of Flames none the less.
Now when I listened to At Dusk and Forever, I was nearly floored. From the first song Wounds to the last song Red Hot, I was hooked on that album. THe production is three times better then Dawn of Flames, the guitars are blazing and ripping through the music, the drums are hammering and pounding, and the singer's voice is powerful and shrieking with brutality. One of the coolest things on Dusk and Forever, is that the singer is using a lot of chorus on his vocals, which makes it sound all the more different.
Dusk and Forever is fast, brutal, melodic, and impressive. Almost a shame the band split up. They had a lot of potential.

Memorable tracks on Dawn of Flames: Forever Scarred, Dawn of Flames
Memorable tracks on At Dusk and Forever: Wounds, At Dusk and Forever, Never alone Again, and Red Hot
