Back in the 60's, I was a big 4 Seasons fan and bought most of their albums. Those albums generally featured a few of their hits padded with covers of other popular songs from the 50s and 60s. Sometimes those covers worked, and sometimes they didn't. This album featured some of the group's best work. With the exception of the Elvis imitation on "Don't Let Go", the trademark 4 Seasons sound works great on the covers featured on this album. If you want to hear something else from the group besides their greatest hits, this is the album to buy. And at $7.98, it's a CD bargin.

Dawn(go away) was my very first album from my very first pay-packet when I was almost 17. The song that I most enyoyed was their cover version of the Crests "16 Candles". To my mind, it is 100% better than the original,and should have been released as a hit single. (Oh, and the second album I purchased back in 1964 was The Shadows' Greatest Hits (Vol.1) Two great bands from opposite sides of the Atlantic!

first Phillips album from 1964 features 2 classic seasons songs Dawn (hit) and Big Man's World (should have been hit) plus fab oldies done with the Season's sound..There are better Cd's if you just want the hits..but this delivers the goods at a reasonable price..and all the cuts are great..

The Four Seasons very name is a harvest of full spectrum sound from boomy bass to the heights of instrumental and vocal. This group EXCITES the ear, the mark of a truly classic "oldies" group. "Silence is golden" is quite true and a great song. "Let's hang on to what we've got" perseveres to everlasting. The song "Soon" has spiritual hope for the future. The chimes on "Church bells may ring" make my soul feel like soaring with eagles. The "Big girls don't cry," and "Big man's world" songs are brave titles, sexy and funny. "Dawn (Go Away) or "Don't go away" seems a play on words. The album has some great tunes and more on other albums.

for the most part, the 4 Seasons did not have hits with these cover versions of others hits; I will stick to their originals, thank you, like Sherry, Walk Like a Man, and of course, Dawn, go away, I'm no good for youuuuuu.....!!!! Peace!
