Book Description

June 3, 2002
With only two witches left, one of them takes her own life rather than fall prey to her enemies. With her dying breath, she summons Dawn, the Goddess of the earth, of birth and rebirth, and protector of the witches. Lucifer, prince of lies, and Ahura-Mazda, master of Heaven, may try to bar her path with treachery and swords, but neither Heaven nor Hell is safe from Dawn's quest for answers - and for bloody vengeance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic myth starring comic's hottest: Dawn, April 6, 2005
This review is from: Dawn Volume 2: Return Of The Goddess (v. 2) (Paperback)
This guy can paint, there's no question about that. Although all his heroes more or less look like an idealized self, the art is simply breathtaking. Some say it's close to kitsch - taste differs, is all I can say to that. The dark storyline, eternal fights between good and evil with angels and devils visiting earth surely isn't something for the average comic-fan. But if you're looking for something different and like to stare at welldrawn babes, Linsner is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Graphic Novel..., February 22, 2006
This review is from: Dawn Volume 2: Return Of The Goddess (v. 2) (Paperback)
Ok I will admit that I picked up Dawn because of the girl on the cover while browsing the fantasy shelves at the bookstore one day. To paraphrase Jessica Rabbit - "She's not bad, she's just drawn that way..." Anyhow, I read the synopsis of the plot - a witch has to commit suicide to escape her captors, and in her last breath summons Dawn, the Goddess of witches - who by the way is not to be trifled with! The tale of Dawns rampage and revenge is very dark and disturbing, reminiscent of Frank Millers Sin City plotlines... Here Dawn must face off against Lucifer himself in an amazing battle.
Oh, and it doesn't hurt that the paintings in the art panels are fantastic. This guy can draw!

Anyhow, there is more to this book than the large breasted red-head on the cover, [but that never hurts a book!]and I would suggest picking up a copy if you are interested in paganism or would just enjoy a dark tale of retribution.

3.0 out of 5 stars Graphic SF Reader, September 2, 2007
This review is from: Dawn Volume 2: Return Of The Goddess (v. 2) (Paperback)
The protagonist in Return of the Goddess is a girl. The book is also an examination of religion, as the girl is a neopagan, and comes into conflict with men of the usual patriarchal religion.

Dawn features a little more as a personality, I suppose you could say, working things out for herself while relating to the girl.
