5.0 out of 5 stars Chiptunes at it's finest, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Dawn Metropolis (MP3 Download)
This record is solid. If you like their "Power Supply" EP then you'll like this one too. Poppy and rocky, it really makes you feel good. Like when you played "Motocross Maniacs" for the first time, or when you finally beat "Fists of the North Star". Of course, I'm talking about the original Gameboy titles, where these guys draw most of their mana.

I love chiptunes. But it's not for everyone. If you didn't spend the greater part of your life playing Tetris, or Dr. Mario, then the odds are that you won't think this rocks. But, there's a purity in this music that's hard to find. It's made with a child's toy from the late 80's, yet it can evoke a wide range of emotions. Maybe it's the beer talking, but Anamanaguchi, you got a butt that just won't quit. Keep making records!

PS
Are you using LSDJ? (That means LiteStep DJ (directed at casual readers, not you guys))

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, May 8, 2011

Anamanaguchi have some great chiptunes, and the songs on "Dawn Metropolis" are no exception. I think my favorites from the band are still some of the singles from their website that haven't made it onto an album yet, but "Dawn Metropolis" has some great songs too. Buy their album, support the band, and check out some of the other songs on their website.

Oh, and to the band...stop by Michigan some time for a tour so I can check out a live show!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sequel to Power Supply, April 17, 2009

Though this album isn't as good as their Power Supply EP, it is still very strong. Once again, they start an album off with an incredible first track. Dawn Metropolis does lack its own "Helix Nebula" but I'll forgive it for that. Anamanaguchi is definitely one of the elite bands in this genre.

I was introduced to Anamanaguchi by the Scott Pilgrim vs the World The Game soundtrack. If you loved the sound track you will enjoy the same sound of chiptune but in a more traditional song length (not just clips meant to be looped). If you're a fan of chiptune you will not regret picking up this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Musical Bliss, March 19, 2011

This was by far the best album I purchased in the past year. This is Anamanaguchi's strongest collection so far, and it contains some really great songs. It's inspired me to try my hand at making some 8bit style music myself. Every time I start this album I have to listen to it all the way through. It's good. Yes. Go buy it, stop reading.

Seriously stop reading go buy it.

Seriously stop it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection., September 4, 2010
This review is from: Dawn Metropolis (MP3 Download)
This album is great.

I love anamanaguchi and think they are the best in the genre. I understand that this band is not for everyone, but if you grew up playing 8 or 16 bit games, or just like that kind of chiptune sound then you will love this album and band.
