3.0 out of 5 stars The Ocean October 14, 2011
`Dawn of the Ocean' does have English subtitles on the main feature, but not on the extras. This is always irritating for those who need or use the subtitles. The extras are: Bowhead whales and Patagonia dolphins. Both are very short. The photography for all is stunning.

The main feature jumps frequently from topic to topic. The subjects covered are discovering sea creatures from fossils then to black smokers at the bottom of the sea and organisms that thrive on toxic substances. Then we see what effect no moon would have on the earth and jump to the Mediterranean Sea - its' past and future. The North Atlantic current is explored and then we end with a short clip of Africa and an amazing statement that Africa is breaking apart. It's almost an afterthought and we are left sitting with the ending credits.

It is all interesting but still erratic and sometimes difficult to tell what present day is and what is being shown as in the past.
This is a DVD that can be educational, although it has its limits due to the way the subject matter is presented.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best... September 24, 2012
I'll have to say, I was pretty disappointed in this video. It was really hard to tell when they went from real life to computer generated shots. It's just not the quality I expected to see.
