5.0 out of 5 stars a page turner
The events in this novel could easily be in tomorrow's newspaper. It is based on the Book of Ezekiel, which predicts an invasion of Isreal by Russia and her allies. This book is a page turner. If you enjoyed Flee The Darkness, you will love this book. I recommend that you read Flee the Darkness before reading this novel.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very good
I picked up this novel hoping that Jeffrey would offer up something new. New insight into Revelations, new thoughts about what it means to be a Christian, or just a new, exciting endtimes novel. Unfortunately, he accomplished none of that. Cashing in on a trend without the talent to pull it off doesn't strike me as the most Christian of endevours. If you're looking...

5.0 out of 5 stars Prophetic Fiction at Its Best, November 23, 2000
By A Customer
"By Dawn's Early Light" springs from the fertile imaginations of Grant R. Jeffrey and Angela Elwell Hunt, a gifted writing team. With gripping immediacy, this book pulls the reader into the lives of its primary characters--Jewish, Christian, and searchers for hope and truth in a world where the battle lines beween good and evil are being irrevocably drawn. Prophetic biblical references provide relevancy to its pages and a reminder of God's promises in an otherwise uncertain future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Winner of the 2000 Christy Award for Excellence in Fiction!, June 15, 2001
By A Customer
By Dawn's Early Light is a wonderful read, convincing a panel of judges to award it the 2000 Christy award for excellence in Christian fiction in the end-times category. (BTW, I, for one, am tired of seeing inane reviews where someone who obviously hasn't not read the book trashes it just so he can praise WE ALL FALL DOWN.) By Dawn's Early LIght is a fast-paced, sensitive portrayal of end times--truly a winner! I love prophetic novels, have read several, and this is one of the best!

4.0 out of 5 stars More depth than Left Behind but frustrating romance angle, March 13, 2005

Jeffrey's book is primarily an apocalyptic thriller, and on that score earns a 4+. The action and plot are fast-paced, much like the Left Behind series. However, the author's characters have much more depth. Michael and Devorah prove to be compassionate, intelligent, and interesting protaganists. The love-tension creates added suspense for much of the book. On the other side, the evil Russian general and his mistress, Alanna, offer the psychological insights that are masterful. We see inside the mind of grandiose bitterness in the general, and the emotional roller coaster of an amatuer mole with Alanna. Rich, addictive writing here!

My major complaint with Dawn's Early Light is that the last several chapters proved too long of an anti-climax. In fact, I sensed how things would pan out even before they did. Additionally, the tension-building forbidden love between Devorah and Michael proved interesting for awhile, but ultimately became frustrating. Jeffrey had a purpose for this element of the plot, but he overplayed it.

Bottom-line: This is an excellent novel, well worth reading. It's almost cheaper to buy it used than to spend gas going to the library to borrow it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Novel Surrounding Predicted Future Middle East Scenario., February 9, 2002

A gripping and enjoyable account of possible world events surrounding the future invasion of Israel prophesied in the Book Of Ezekiel.

In this account Russian and Arab forces invade Israel amid the spectre of a nuclear holocaust, intent upon the eradication of the Jewish State.

Very timely and appropriate in view of current world events and very readable.

A pre-cursor to the follow-up entitled 'Spear Of Tyranny', which is based around events following the above invasion and the rise of the Anti-Christ and his one-world government/religion.

Both books are very enjoyable and will hold your attention from cover to cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, February 13, 2001
In this sequel, Jeffrey and Hunt switch character focus but manage to keep the same action and page turning drama. I missed the old characters but no complaints!

If you're looking for a quality book about Revelations, try Brian Caldwell's We All Fall Down instead. It's intellegent, compelling, and utterly engrosing. It puts this book to shame.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good But In Error, September 27, 2002
By
Petewen "petewen7" (Kildeer, IL United States) - See all my reviews
The writing and story is actually very good, but because I believe that the authors underlying biblical views are in error, that it looses it's relevance.

3.0 out of 5 stars The lords will be done, December 1, 2000
By A Customer
Satan was no where to be found when this book was being written! The lord was racing through the authors veins like a satanist in Gods temple. I hope people really pay attention to the prophetic view of this book and start praying for their sins. The world is getting ready to end, the signs are here, and it is about time we strapped the gloves on and went to battle with satan. Satan takes many forms in this world and a few are; druggies, hippies, crackheads, coke babies, abortion doctors, alternative partners, and other "perverse" ways to live your life. The end is near and this book will get you ready. Long live Christianity, and down with satan.
