Great grooves, recorded in Dakar, seasoned with Fela-ish flavorings and just the right touch of Kieran (Four Tet) Hebden's electronica. Highly recommended and an amazing $5.99 on iTunes.

If you like African Jazz with it's all it's complex rhythms, grab this CD before it is out of print. These are "older" recordings, so the volumn of content is short, but I got a hell of a deal on what I deem as being a hard to find album and nessesary for all Jazz buffs out there looking to the past for something new. It's nicely mastered also.

Master Drummer Steve Reid and Hebdan Kiernan have found an unique thing goin' in their sound. The lovers of jazz know the hard-to-get LP"s of early Reid with their increadable beat that goes straight to the pumping of your bloodvains and gets you moving. ('Rythmatism' etc..) On this CD it will happen again!! The first number is odd.. the sound of an African welcome-song..hé? yep! They were recording in Dakar and this one slipped trough, some setting to an atmosphere, I suppose.. But once the welcome is passed (after three times you are welcomed anough and start to skip that first song) Reid and his mates go up skyhigh. That African guitarman from the welcome-song happens to be a great player with his nice riffs and feelingfull complements to the sound. Kiernan Hebdan scratches walls and stones, cracks and spatters with his electric boxes and adds a layer of voicy-sounds here and there..It all is an ungoing move.. Good rythms and I love it! They are soon coming to the BIM-huis, the Amsterdam Jazzplace-to be..and I will be there too!! Let it come Steve, and more of this please, loads!, thank you!!
