5.0 out of 5 stars One of Paul's best to date
And that is saying something..... From the driving energy of "Annalee" to the passionate love of a life and a city gone missing in "Hurricane Angel", first love remembered in "Once Upon A Summertime" to love lost forever in "Nothing Left To Take," Paul's music and lyrics paint as broad a picture of life as possible. 3.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Songwriter, But a Lot of Anthem Rock Here
As a 15-year+ fan of Ellis Paul, it is gratifying to hear this new album, one that kicks it up a notch to boot. Funded by fan donations, the album boasts a rich, almost in-your-face production, with most songs featuring full-band arrangement. Paul is a talented, sophisticated songwriter, and there are some memorable songs here. There is also a tendency for songs to tiptoe...

Highly recommended !

5.0 out of 5 stars His best yet!, January 6, 2010
By
I've been an Ellis fan since 1994, have all the CDs and think that this new one contains some of his strongest material. He's ventured into some new territory by featuring a covers medley for the first time on a solo studio album 'Walking After Midnight' (recorded by Patsy Cline) and 'Change' (by Sam Baker). Five of the songs are co-writes with long time friend Kristian Bush (Sugarland) who is also Exec Producer.

'The Day After Everything Changed' is a wonderful addition to the Ellis Paul CD collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like fine wine....., January 6, 2010
I've been following Ellis Paul's music for a long, long, time....and like fine wine, he simply gets better and better with age. An exquisite collection of songs from a man who is a master songwriter and a lyricist beyond compare. The lush arrangements of this album enhance both the music and lyrics without overshadowing either. Contemporary singer-songwriter music doesn't get any better than this. Like his live shows, the listener is taken up, down and all around....and by the last track you're breathless....only able to shake your head and say "wow".....

This is Ellis Paul's best work to date! One of the best produced albums I have heard. The songs and the performances are so honest. Nobody does it better than Ellis Paul!

After listening to this album for the first time I was blown away. From start to finish, each song tells a beautiful story of triumph and tragedy. If you're not ready to "dive right in" you can download the title track for free at [...] (great video there too!).

If you have not been listening to the music of Ellis Paul over the last 15+ years then 2010 is the year to make that change. His latest CD The Day After Everything Changed is a stunning collection of work by one of the most literate songwriters in recent years. Songs range in topic from hurricane victims ~ Hurricane Angel, unemployment in trying economic times ~Rose Tatoo,
to one of the most heartwrenching love songs ever ~ Waking Up To Me, to just plain fun and freedom~ River Road. Do yourself a favor and make a change for the better, listen to the songs of a songwriter that have
been compared to the likes of James Taylor, Paul Simon, and Bob Dylan songs....The Day After Everything Changed will change your mind about "folk singers"!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, January 6, 2010
Time and time again, Ellis Paul creates masterpieces. With his extreme vocal range and variety of songs, you're sure to find something on this disk to capture your imagination. From the brilliance of The Lights of Vegas, to the questioning of Dragonfly, to the raw emotion of Paper Dolls and fluidity of the title track, The Day After Everything Changed, you will be measmurized by these tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Day After Everything Changed for Ellis Paul, January 6, 2010
I have been an Ellis fan for many years now. I am the proud owner of all of his stuff, but this CD, by far, has blown everything else he has done out of the water! Ellis is the most amazing storyteller and I think most people can relate to each and every song on this CD in one way or another. Annalee draws you right in as the first song and the rest of it just flows together like a sweet rolling river. In my opinion, he should be all over the radio and selling out huge stadiums. He's that good!
