About the Author

I am a native Texan, married and have 3 wonderful daughters and many awesome nephews and nieces who all live in the great state of Texas. We are fortunate that my parents have a beach house in Matagorda, Texas. Many exciting memories have been created there. We enjoy spending time together, fishing, boating, and of course, playing on the beach. As a teacher for over 11 years, I have written many stories about my family during Writer's Workshop. I've told so many stories, and my students have always wanted more, so I decided to follow my heart and write out my stories. At the same time, my goal is to provide resources for teachers to use when teaching writing. Over the years, I have learned and been exposed to many different writing processes. I have found over the years, that there is not just one best method for teaching writing. I love teaching writing and use a combination of different techniques. As a result, I have developed good writers who love to write stories. The key: have fun with it! Be animated. Be personable ~ kids love being involved in their teacher's lives. Kids love to have fun and they learn and apply skills best when having fun. It also makes teaching much more fun and rewarding.
