This review is from: The Day I Ate Whatever I Wanted
Reading this book made me feel ill: all of the disgusting, fatty food! In the title story, the main character stuffs herself with the following items: close to a full box of doughnuts, a bacon cheeseburger, fries, a chocolate malted with whipped cream, a piece of yellow cake with icing, a turtle sundae with extra caramel sauce, cheetos, steak and mushrooms, a loaded baked potato, Caesar salad, apple crisp and cherry crumb pie. And this all in one day, before bedtime! This character should be drug out into the streets and shot--revolting!
Overall, the character in this collection are superficial and lack subtlety, while the description of the food is decidedly more nuanced. |
