This is THE DAY :),
By Mikeisha Best (Mitchellville, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Day (Audio CD)
Kenneth Edmonds sure knows how to write a song. This is a very nice album. It contains lots of love songs and a few meaningful songs. This album has a relaxed feel to it. I hope anyone who wants to buy this is not expecting Babyface to have party starters on here, no no. This album is more suited for a romantic evening with your baby."The Day", the album's title track, is a song about the day Tracey Edmonds told Babyface she was pregnant with their first child, Brandon. This song is very sweet, the only instrument being Babyface on the piano. The song is heartfelt, and the listener knows that this song is not just a song, it is an experience. "Simple Days" is an album highlight. It's a pretty slow song about life back in the day. Babyface tries to keep up with the younger r&b artists with "All Day Thinkin'" and "This is for the Lover in You". "This is for the Lover in You" features Jody Watley, Howard Hewitt and LL Cool J. it's a nice song and it was released. "Seven Seas" is one of the best love songs ever. Babyface is letting his woman know that there is nothing he wont do for her. I love it! "How Come, How Long" has a truly important message: if you are experiencing domestic violence, remove yourself from the situation before it's too late. It is definitely something young people of today needed to hear. I like this album. Mikeisha's Top 5 1. All Day Thinkin' 2. Seven Seas 3. How Come, How Long? 4. When Your Body Gets Weak 5. This is for the Lover in You

The Most Personal R & B Album,
By Donovan Juan (Perth, WA Australia) - See all my reviews

The Day is something truly special. Many ballad albums fail to reach the depth that this album reaches. Babyface reaches deep into his soul for this one. Never has there (in my humble opinion) ever been any artist that has recorded an album that so personal. The ballads are full of meaning and the acoustic sound Face went for on this album is so beautiful. How Come, How Long is one of Stevie's best works in the 90s and the theme is so sad. Best of all would be the most personal songs on the album: Simple Days and The Day. The Day in particular is so emotionally charged. It almost brings me to tears everytime I hear the line: "It's like a song I've never heard, I've never sung but know the words." Just amazing

Essence of what you want in melodic ballads and love songs.,

I loved it. I listen to it over and over again. It reminds you of the days when the sex was implied not overt and your imagination could take over rather than raw explicit lyrics.

This by far the best cd I have heard in my life! Im saying that babyface is the greatest musical entertainer ever. For someone who writes their own music, sings it, and plays their own intrument, this is truely a work of art. I can't say enough about it. Standout tracks are Everytime I Close My Eyes, and Seven Seas. Everyone must go out and buy this cd and experience it, it's worth every penny

BabyFace is a phenomenal Artist and "the Day" Is an outstanding follow up to cool. I find it amazing That Babyface has been around for years and he is still better then all of these youngsters around now. The Day has Collaberations with the brilliant Stevie Wonder on the Track "How come how Long" an amazing Song Which shows Babyfaces writing skills and Wonder's pitch is still Top Notch! On "When your Body gets weak" Boyz II Men joins Babyface on a soulful ballad that touches the heart like no other! On "everytime I close my eyes" Babyface shows his skill in producing ooey gooey beats to make a really touching song. And on my Personal Favorite "Seven Seas" this song was so good i had to sing this for my girlfriend to show her how i feel about her! The Perfect Combination Of beautiful lyrics A catchy hook and a producing Job that would even make prince jealous. All in All Babyface is one of the greatest Artist of all time and HIGHly Talented! My advice is BUY This album and i promise you'll get some lol ! PEACe

This review is from: The Day (Audio CD)
when the Reunited Shalamar single with Face hit this is for the Lover in you with LL.Cool J Rapping on it I was Hyped.I thought cool Face is Coming back Right.well that was one of the few Highlights. No Doubt He is The Baddest Writer,Arranger,Producer over the past Decade.you name it he has done it.but this album only has a few Bright Spots for Me.Simply Days was a great cut.How Come How Long was Cool Together with the Genius Mind Of Stevie Wonder they Create a Great Message Song.but this Album on a Whole didn't move me like For the Cool In You did.I Believe a Few To Many Guests.but you Know His Best is yet to Still Come.

Three years in the making but "The Day" has finally arrived. Face shows us why he is what he is, a musical genius. A fantastic set of songs that will last! Outstanding tracks include the all star line up in "Every Time I Close My Eyes", the most personal and one take masterpiece in "The Day" and my personal favourite Babyface track ever, "Seven Seas", a song that has perfection written all over it. The only disappointment was that Seven Seas was never released as a single which I didn't understand. Babyface will be releasing a new album titled "Save A Night For Love" soon and the first single off the album "Reason For Breathing" is the tightest track I have heard from Face. When the party is over and the people have all gone home, Babyface will remain one of the most influential artists the world has ever seen.

Ever since the late '80s, Babyface has earned more respect with every project he undertakes both as a producer and singer. His previous solo album made him the ladies' leading lover. Between albums, he's worked with Madonna and Whitney among others. He also reached his peak with the smash soundtrack to "Waiting to Exhale," which also starred Whitney alongside a number of current female R&B acts. Although "The Day" didn't generate a top 10 R&B single, his fans will surely appreciate his effort. The album title track focuses on his first son's birth, and he collaborates with Mariah Carey and Kenny G on the minor hit, "Every Time I Close My Eyes." Other notable tracks include "How Come, How Long," a song which features the legendary Stevie Wonder, and "Seven Seas."
