Biography

Rizwan and Muazzam Mujahid Ali Khan are the torchbearers of a tradition that goes back over 700 years, the tradition of qawwali. Qawwali is an Arabic word that means "utterance" and it is the devotional music of the Sufis of Pakistan and India. When the unforgettable qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan died in Pakistan in 1997, he left a musical vacuum into which stepped his two teenage nephews.… Read more in Amazon's Rizwan-Muazam Qawwali Group Store

2.0 out of 5 stars Weakest Rizwan Muazzam Album, December 14, 2004
This review is from: Day of Colours (Audio CD)
This is the weakest of the traditional Rizwan Muazzam albums. Firstly the recording quality is bad, it was recorded in pakistan and is extremely muted. The upper half of the frequency spectrum is completely absent.

Nusrat fans will recognize song 1, which Nusrat called "To Karimi" which is on the "final recordings" album. The last song is the traditional "Rang Hai Nai". The rest are new Rizwan-Muazzam songs. There are seven songs on this cd, about 10 minutes each, which means they have to squeeze in the performances. This makes for lackluster performances of the songs here, not too much improvisation. The singers don't seem in improvising form during this recording.

I'd recommend getting "Sacrifice to Love", for those who are just exploring this group.
