Biography

Balancing chaos and consciousness is no easy feat, and few bands will ever do it as well as Death By Stereo has on the astonishing new disc Death For Life. Brutal and brutally honest, the set's eleven songs come swinging at you like a bag of bricks as they embrace the extremities of hardcore and the fluid riffs of metal.

"We fought it out and found out what we want to be," says vocalist Efrem… Read more in Amazon's Death By Stereo Store

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

The sound of Death by Stereo can be broken down into chunks of hugeness: testosterone-soaked drums, towering squalls of guitar, massive bottom end, and caterwauling vocals that sound like they were ripped straight from the guts of a beast named Fury. It's not your typical punk rock, primarily because the band has a uniquely sharp edge. This Southern California-based five-piece keeps it slightly metal (more Judas Priest than Mötley Crüe), making it OK for the boys to create winning cuts with could've-been-train-wreck titles like "Porno, Sex, Drugs, Lies, Money, and Your Local Government" and "Death for Life." Day of the Death, the group's second release overall and first for Epitaph, is a first-class speaker-shaking delight. --Jason Josephes

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing..., July 5, 2002
By
This review is from: Day of the Death (Audio CD)
I saw this cd for 4 dollars while cruising the local cd shop and decided to pick it up just because of the excellent price. Not expecting too much, I took it home and stuck it in my stereo. I was blown away by all of the technical guitar riffs and solos, and the drummer for DBS is absolutely incredible with all of the various rolls and fills. And than there is the vocals. It is a perfect blend of yelling, singing, and speaking. DBS is by far the most talented of any band I have ever listened to. Even at full price, this cd is worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different Than What I Expected, April 10, 2005
This review is from: Day of the Death (Audio CD)
I first though of Death By Stereo as yet "another carbon copy punk rock band", and I didn't listen to their music. I learned a lesson. Don't judge music by their album covers. It's the music that counts. I actually love this band. "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Salvation" and "Getting It Off My Chest" are great tracks, but I like "Desperation Train". This music is a mix of Atreyu and Rise Against, both good bands. The vocals aren't the best, but the music definitely makes up for it. Buy this and any album by this band. Also, there's a new album coming out by these guys really soon!
