This review is from: Day Of The Dinosaur (Hardcover)
L.Sprague De Camp has an extremely pleasant writing style, unhurried, clear, and casual. In this book he runs through the evolution of organisms from primitive vertebrates up to the dinosaurs. The focus is, of course on the dinosaurs, and one gets the basics (skull forms, hipbones, and major groups) as they develop over time. There is also an entertaining section on the fossil feuds of the 19th century. I have read this book about 20 times, and still turn to it when the rest of library looks boring. The technical level is about 12th grade. A guilty pleasure.
