Depending on your age, the name Cheyenne Kimball could be familiar to you for one of a number of reasons. She took her first step on the ladder of fame when she won the 'America's Most Talented Kid' competition in 2003--singing her own song--at the age of 12. The Texas teenager then signed on with MTV to document her rise to fame on reality TV; instead of highlighting her flaws, the show served to affirm her sincerity and talent. Three years after inking a recording deal, The Day Has Come is Kimball's musical result; true to her abilities, she has co-written every song and played guitar on nearly every track.

Still, there are many heavy hitters contributing to this disc, from The Matrix to Chantal Kreviazuk (who co-wrote much of Avril Lavigne’s last CD) to former members of Blind Melon. The question remains: is she a compelling young celebrity who can somewhat carry a tune, or a good musician who happens to have benefited from prime TV time? Judging by this disc, Kimball can definitely write, play, and sing. While still having a young voice, her control, depth, and ability to create hooks are well-showcased in the lyrically-disenchanted "Good Go Bad" and the country-infused "Everything To Lose." "Hanging On" is a catchy first single, delivered with confidence and perfect pitch. The end result? With solid tracks and powerful--but still developing--chops, Kimball is a young pop-ster with much potential, a possible future Sheryl Crow in the making. --Denise Sheppard

When we first heard Cheyenne's single "Hanging on" on MTV, we thought "ok, she's got one good single and she's going to be just like every other blonde pop actress/singer" she isnt. this girl has talent. trust me. this cd is worth the buy. My top 3 favorite songs are:
-The Day Has Come (amazing chorus)
-Hanging On
-One Original Thing

Now this is what I call rocking music. I first heard Cheyenne's "One Original Thing" on the movie, Aquamarine, and got hooked on it. I purely bought the CD just for that one song, then found out, there were so many other great ones. "Hanging On" and "Original Thing", title track "Day Has Come", "Everything to Lose", "Mr. Beautiful", "Four Walls" and "Full Circle" are ones worth listening to over and over again. I never get tired of them. 'Hello Goodbye', 'Good go bad' and 'Didn't I' are growing on me-more and more, "Breaking your heart" is edgy along with 'I want to'. This is definitely the type of music to have at a party to dance all night long to, she makes me wanna dance and never stop. This Texan is definitely has a lot of potential!

First of all, I would like to state that I hate reality television and perfectly manufactured teen-pop acts. Why did I purchase this album? I thought that maybe, Cheyenne would surprise me. She did. The entire album, from start to finish, is thoroughly enjoyable. Every song is 'single' quality and equally appealing as "Hanging On". The writing, instrumentation, production and singing are all fantastic. Yes, Cheyenne's vocal range is somewhat limited. All you can do is work with what you have. She does this. Some of the same people who worked with Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson on their sophomore albums are present here. I undoubtedly enjoyed those albums and therefore love this one, as well. Could it be better? Yes, but not by a lot. Considering how young Cheyenne is, I'd say she's really made a solid effort that will naturally find success and vast radio play. I can't wait to see how much she grows musically and personally between now and her sophomore release. Her sophomore will most likely be as good as Lavigne and Clarkson's efforts and that growth will be quite present, as it was with them. In spite of her age and lack of life experience, her debut is totally satisfying and it's very obvious that this girl is talented and not just some manufactured act for the brainwashed tweens to devour. It certainly has come.
