Unexpected Talent,
This review is from: The Day Has Come (Audio CD)
When we first heard Cheyenne's single "Hanging on" on MTV, we thought "ok, she's got one good single and she's going to be just like every other blonde pop actress/singer" she isnt. this girl has talent. trust me. this cd is worth the buy. My top 3 favorite songs are:
-The Day Has Come (amazing chorus) -Hanging On -One Original Thing

An Impressive, Rockin Debut!,

Now this is what I call rocking music. I first heard Cheyenne's "One Original Thing" on the movie, Aquamarine, and got hooked on it. I purely bought the CD just for that one song, then found out, there were so many other great ones. "Hanging On" and "Original Thing", title track "Day Has Come", "Everything to Lose", "Mr. Beautiful", "Four Walls" and "Full Circle" are ones worth listening to over and over again. I never get tired of them. 'Hello Goodbye', 'Good go bad' and 'Didn't I' are growing on me-more and more, "Breaking your heart" is edgy along with 'I want to'. This is definitely the type of music to have at a party to dance all night long to, she makes me wanna dance and never stop. This Texan is definitely has a lot of potential!

First of all, I would like to state that I hate reality television and perfectly manufactured teen-pop acts. Why did I purchase this album? I thought that maybe, Cheyenne would surprise me. She did. The entire album, from start to finish, is thoroughly enjoyable. Every song is 'single' quality and equally appealing as "Hanging On". The writing, instrumentation, production and singing are all fantastic. Yes, Cheyenne's vocal range is somewhat limited. All you can do is work with what you have. She does this. Some of the same people who worked with Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson on their sophomore albums are present here. I undoubtedly enjoyed those albums and therefore love this one, as well. Could it be better? Yes, but not by a lot. Considering how young Cheyenne is, I'd say she's really made a solid effort that will naturally find success and vast radio play. I can't wait to see how much she grows musically and personally between now and her sophomore release. Her sophomore will most likely be as good as Lavigne and Clarkson's efforts and that growth will be quite present, as it was with them. In spite of her age and lack of life experience, her debut is totally satisfying and it's very obvious that this girl is talented and not just some manufactured act for the brainwashed tweens to devour. It certainly has come.

When I first saw Cheyenne Kimball a few years ago on America's Most Talented Kid, the moment she started to sing I knew she would win.
Though the album sounds very produced, it's a remarkable acheivement at any age, let alone 15. Sure, her small voice is not going to appeal to everyone, not having that broad, big sound that so many people seem to think is required of a musician these days. I say it all depends on personal taste and is in no way a reflection of Ms. K's talent. The girl can sing; whether she does so in a style and tone that is pleasing is subjective. Some people's ears, not to mention audio speakers they listen through, are more sensitive to certain frequency ranges and that can color their listening expreirence. While I think Cheynne's voice is great, a friend of mine totally disagrees. But that is because his preference is for more Broadway musical-sounding voices. Whether or not you prefer her tone there's no questioning Cheyenne has excellent vocal control and pitch. Her songs, while not complicated (I dont' believe there's a key change on the entire album), are catchy and singable. But I think the best thing about Cheyenne is her apparent sincerity and moxie, and for that I give her an extra star.

Cheyenne Kimball can sure be rocking it on her first album! It took me 25 days to listen to it, but it is a consistent effort. This succeeds far beyond the MTV show she did of the making of this album. All the numbers are full of energy, solid melodies and rhythms, and heavy on the guitars! Her guitar playing is dynamic on all numbers and she's a good songwriter. Sure, she had people like Kara Dioguardi, Greg Wells, Eddie Head, Raine Maida, Chantal Kreviazuk, Billy Mann, Scott Cutler and Anne Preven to produce the songs, but this album is all Cheyenne. Of course she's new, but her approach gives Kelly Clarkson a run for her money on the rock end. You don't even think about the outside help of 7 producers for this effort, because you are all into Cheyenne's own sound and musical vision. One of the more exciting and refreshing debuts that I've listened to this year.

Crossover chameleon,

Sounding way more mature than her almost 16 years, Cheyenne Kimball is already a veteran performer, having been named America's Most Talented Kid when she was only twelve. Not only can she sing and play the guitar, but this teenaged phenom also co-wrote the songs on this debut album.
Although vocally no LeAnn Rimes, Kimball brings the same youthful touch to her music, especially on her first single "Hanging On" which by now you will have heard eating up the airwaves. On this track she sounds quite similar to the leading pop female superstars, but on lead off track "I Want To" she lays bare her country roots. Alternating chameleon-like between genres, Cheyenne manages to change her sound from the softer country crossover music to the rock rhythms of Avril Lavigne with ease. Other tracks to look for are "One Original Thing" (move over Shania Twain); "The Day Has Come" (the next single which will be released soon); "Four Walls" (a breathy ballad); "Hello Goodbye" (the Avril Lavigne-type track) and "Full Circle" (a ballad which swells into a rousing chorus) If this album is the litmus paper for her career, all signs indicate that we're going to be hearing a lot more from this talented Texan. The day has come...Too bad for us.,

Tagged as a singer-songwriter, Cheyenne Kimball sure does disappoint. The "geniuses" at MTV make her out to be this deep Tori Amos/Sarah McLachlan type girl, but all we get is a pre-packaged pop star. The lyrics are so juvenile, and they weren't even written solely by her. "So what if they're juvenile, she's a teenager and her music is marketed towards teenagers." Well, listen to Fiona Apple's 'Tidal', or Bonnie Mckee's 'Trouble'. Both of those albums were released by talented VOCALISTS in their teens who didn't have a team of songwriters behind them. Don't fall for the Avril Lavigne formula ("she's a songwriter"). And if you saw Cheyenne's performance on TRL or her duet with Sheryl Crow, you know she can't hold a tune. Don't contribute to the dumbing down of society by buying this CD. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away.

okay i loved the cd when i first heard it and the songs and tunes are very catchy and hip and i also love the song "Didnt I". i would have rated this cd a 5 stars. but if you compare her actual singing VOICE to artists like avril lavigne, aly and aj, or JOJO you can see whitch singers are really good. Cause avril, aly and aj, and jojos voices are seroudly POWERFUL. THeyre great singers and some singers out there now a days are just Good. singers are SUPPOSed To BE AMazing. Shes good. and she knows how to put a good song together but her voice is too high pitched and weak to do amazing type songs.
