We love this book. The rating system they use is perfect. They fit the hikes well. We know which hikes we can take the kids on and how long they are going to take. The directions to find the beginning location for each hike are wonderful. We will buy more of these for different areas!

It may be unfair to the authors of this book, I mean that their book really is pretty good, BUT, there is a far superior book. "100 Hikes in Northwest Oregon & Southwest Washington, 3rd Edition (Paperback)" contains practically everything that this book does and then takes the subject to a higher level.

If you are looking for basic hiking information, this is the book to have. Unlike the above cited book, this book offers USGS map section references that can be found on the internet for further detail.

Compare both books carefully. Each is priced the same, but this book offers less useful detail.

Our senior hiking group uses this book all the time and it has very good directions and great trails.

I can't believe there a a couple hikes right next to I84 in this book. I tried one out just to make sure and it was awful, you can hear the road the whole time. The book is great at getting you to where you need to be, but I still can't believe they would print these trails that run along the freeway! I should have reviewed other guides before choosing this book...
