Overall a useful book; but look out for the factual errors!!, July 21, 2003

This review is from: Day Hikes in the Taos Area (Paperback)
Overall a good book for outdoor enthusiasts planning to visit the Taos area. However, I have found a number of factual errors while investigating a couple of the hikes. For example, wrong "Quadrant" map designations (the USGS perfers 'Quadrangle' for their 24K scale series ;>). While the book is valuable for pointing out a number of good hikes for a newcomer to the Taos area out of the plentiful options locally found, just do your homework before buying the topos for a specific hike. Remember that digital versions of these map products are free to the public online (payed for with taxpayer dollars) and can be accessed by googling 'New Mexico DRG'.
