5.0 out of 5 stars A Day In The Life - Outstanding
If you are looking for a CD that can touch each area of your life, "A Day In The Life" is it. Every song is wonderful. The CD is one that years from now you will still want to pick up and listen to. I really love the entire album, a few of my favorite songs that stand out are the following "That's Just My Way", "Spend My Life", "Come...

2.0 out of 5 stars Eric, What happened?
Eric, honey, I'm afraid my money would've been better spent elsewhere. And what's up with that "lovin' your girlfriend" mess? Where's the sensitivity, the respect, the love I felt with your first effort? I was one of the first to notice and feel the appeal of Eric Benet when he appeared on the scene with True to Myself. But Eric, I'm really disappointed...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Day In The Life - Outstanding, February 10, 2000

If you are looking for a CD that can touch each area of your life, "A Day In The Life" is it. Every song is wonderful. The CD is one that years from now you will still want to pick up and listen to. I really love the entire album, a few of my favorite songs that stand out are the following "That's Just My Way", "Spend My Life", "Come as You Are" and "Love the Hurt Away". This album speaks Love, it speaks of the different levels we all may experience or have experience at some point and time in our lives, rather it be an experience of our own, or walking with a close friend through the experience.

Eric is truly a artist that has placed his heart and soul into this CD. For those music lovers who are looking for music with a message besides hearing a negative voice, but wanting to recapture in-depth feelings of R&B - add this CD to your collection. It won't be one of those CD's that you only enjoy two songs, but it is a CD that you will enjoy every track and enjoy listening to over and over again for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spendin' My Time w/You, February 22, 2000

This album is well done and worth purchasing. If you are not an Eric Benet fan, this album may make you change your mind. The album is laid back, funky, romantic and mellow. Most of the songs are memorable and you find yourself singing along or humming the melody. His collaborations with Faith Evans and Michele Ndegeochello are fabulous. Even more so was his duet with Tamia "Spending My Life". It is such a beautiful song sung with heartfelt emotion and is great for all romantics. If you like mellow R & B and can appreciate hearing a nice voice behind slick grooves and melody, this is just the album for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Voice, and a stellar talent!, December 14, 1999
This review is from: Day in the Life (Audio CD)
I love Eric Benet and his new CD is just too wonderful for words! You MUST MUST MUST buy this thing! He did what Toto just couldn't for Georgy Porgy, Spend My Life With You is the wedding song of the year, Something Real is great to blast out of the car radio, When You Think of Me (my favorite on the CD) is a hot, smoky, jazz baby of a jewel and the lyrics are just priceless (revenge is best serves smokin' baby), Why You Follow Me is a wonderful latin tropical sensation, Love The Hurt Away and Come As You Are are just beautiful straight R&B love ballads, and then you get to the last track - Love of My Own it just sums up my sentiments of relationships and I am so feelin' him when he sings this. A Day In The Life offers something for everyone it should be in everyone's CD player at all times!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best CDs of 1999, April 28, 2000

A year later, this is still one of the best CDs out right now. Eric Benet finds a way to bring classic soul into the new millenium. His first CD, "True To Myself" brought the hits "Let's Stay Together", "Femininity", "All In The Game" and "While You Were Here". "A Day In The Life" takes place where his last CD left off, which is a good thing. The whole CD is excellent and a must own for true r&b fans. The highlights include the current single and my favorite track on the CD, "When You Think Of Me" w/Roy Ayres. This song has Eric telling a former girlfriend it's nice that you're thinking of me now, but if you would've took care of your business in the first place I wouldn't be singing this song. Other highlights include "Love The Hurt Away", "That's Just My Way", the first single "Georgy Porgy" w/Faith Evans, and one of the best slow jams of 1999, "Spend My life With You" w/Tamia. Also check out "The Best Man" soundtrack for his song "Poetry Girl", which is one of the best songs on the soundtrack. Eric Benet definitely was not a victim of the sophomore jinx, he's just getting better with time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellence, March 30, 2005
This review is from: Day in the Life (Audio CD)
Eric Benet's sophomore cd is truly superb - it combines a fantastic voice with great songs, great production and great collaborations - all the essential ingredients for an amazing cd. Standout tracks include the gorgeous duet with Tamia 'Spend my life with you' and 'Georgy Porgy' featuring Faith Evans. Other favourite tracks are the groovy opening track 'That's just my way', 'When you think of me', 'Come as you are' and 'Why you follow me'. But truthfully there isn't one bad track on the entire album. I really liked his debut album but I find this one to be superior - there's no need to use the skip button on your cd player with this one. Eric has such an excellent voice. I really hope he creates a third album. In the meantime, this is one you need to acquire.

5.0 out of 5 stars eric benet---r&b at its best, August 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Day in the Life (Audio CD)
When i first bought this cd, i had only heard one song by Eric Benet (featuring Tamia), so I kinda went out on a limb and bought the cd without knowing a lot of his music. I must say, im glad to have bought it. I like the fact that its not overplayed on the radio, so I can play it at home as much as I want to without getting sick of it. Also, a lot of times when I buy r&b i get really frustrated, because all the tracks sound the same, and it puts me to sleep. I feel that Eric Benet really has this down, and does this perfectly, using different styles in different songs, and at the same time making a great record. He doesnt have too many ballads either which can also bring down a lotta r&b records. I could go on for years, but I won't, i'll just leave you with these few words: BUY IT, YOU'LL BE HAPPY IF YOU'RE AND R&B FAN, EVEN IF YOU DONT KNOW ALL THE SONGS AHEAD OF TIME! OK?

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Great!!!, March 18, 2000

This review is from: Day in the Life (Audio CD)
This album leaves you nice and relaxed. It is very calming. My favs are "That's Just My Way", "Georgy Porgy", "Spend My Life With You", and "Loving Your Best Friend" to name a few. Loving Your Best Friend is a funny story. Benet surprised me with that one and also another song. I didn't realize his songs were so sensual. I guess I wasn't paying that much attention to the lyrics. My ears are now open. I would recommend this one to anyone who likes a jazzy style. Keep up the good work Benet!

5.0 out of 5 stars OOOHHHHH!, February 8, 2000
By
This review is from: Day in the Life (Audio CD)
This is an extraordinary piece of work. This man has a way with lyrics that not many other artists have these days. It's not always about the bump and grind. Eric takes us back to the days when a subtle hint was all that was needed on "That's Just My Way." "Spend My Life" is what we're all looking for, someone's arms to run to. We learn that revenge can be sweet on "When You Think of Me." "Come As You Are" tries to recapture the sweetest of memories before you say goodbye for the final time and yes, you have to spin the wheel for a "Love Of My Own." I love, love, love this cd and I'm happy to say Eric is here to stay. He is also featured on Jazz artists such as Jeff Lorber's "West Side Stories" and Marion Meadows "Forbidden Fruit." Eric Benet has been around a lot longer than people realize. This is a definite must have!

Buy it now! The best R&B album of the year, maybe the last 5 years (pardon me D'Angelo). Sweet rhythms and pointed lyrics, great mix.
