More About the Author

Hi!
I live in South Dakota with my husband and my two boys. I also have a dog named Quincy.

I usually do my writing on my laptop at the dining room table. Or I use the computer in my office.

I love writing nonfiction books because I learn all sorts of interesting things about our world.

I hope you read some of my books and learn too. Maybe you will even get an idea for something you'd like to write!

Heather

5.0 out of 5 stars A good intro book, May 9, 2010
This book provides a good overall look at a veterinarian's day. This book is full of pictures and Q&A style information. As a teacher, I especially like the time clocks that represent the veterinarian's day. Younger children 6-8 who are interested in animals would like reading this book with an adult, as the text would challenging for a beginning reader (reading level varies throughout the book from 4th grade through 6th grade). Though, this is not a thorough coverage of what a veterinarian does, it does include sources, both internet and books, for children who want more information. It also includes a short glossary and index.

My daughter is six and loves reading about veterinarians. This book has interesting pictures and facts. I agree that it is appropriate for elementary aged kids. Nice size fonts and great for kids developing their independent reading at higher levels.

my godson is 15 years old and interested in becoming a vet. this book came up in my search for books on this topic but didn't include the age for the audience. this is more appropriate for very young children. i will probably donate it to to my alma mater for their elementary classes.
