5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It!
This was absolutely a very cute book! Also, a must-read for any woman who has been in a relationship (even if they are currently in one). Jennifer Love Hewitt uses her personal experiences from her MANY publicized relationships with men to shed a little light on all the intricacies of dating, all the good stuff and bad stuff, and even the 'Why didn't I think of that?'...

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed
I really like Jennifer Love Hewitt and thought this book would be a light fun read, but I was pretty dissapointed. This book seems very girly-ish, as in, a little girl wrote it. It wasn't even very funny. I wouldn't recommend this book to a friend or anyone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It!, July 21, 2010
This review is from: The Day I Shot Cupid: Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I'm a Love-aholic (Hardcover)
This was absolutely a very cute book! Also, a must-read for any woman who has been in a relationship (even if they are currently in one). Jennifer Love Hewitt uses her personal experiences from her MANY publicized relationships with men to shed a little light on all the intricacies of dating, all the good stuff and bad stuff, and even the 'Why didn't I think of that?' stuff in relationships. This does not mean that JLH is telling you "HOW IT IS" and that there is no other way, she is just giving her own little perspective.

In the end this book is meant to make you feel better about your past relationships, even if they went horribly wrong, because everyone goes through them. There is even a part where she lets a man speak for himself (Jammie Kennedy - even though they were no longer together when this book came out). One of the important things to take from this book is that everyone is different, including men. Also, we are not alone. Plain and simple. Throughout her advice and perspective, JLH also provides little tips that she found successful, while stating that these might not work for everyone.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, quick, heartfelt read with no lies written in the pages.

I am a big fan of Jennifer Love, ever since I was watching her as a pre-teen, and now as an adult with Ghost Whisperer. As soon as I found out she was coming out with a book, I pre-ordered it. It could have been about her sleeping patterns and I would still have eaten it all up! This book was so cute, I read it in 2 days. It gave me a good insight on what she went through after her break up with her fiancee. I def. know what its like after a big break up like that, and it helped me get closer to her. Love it and HER!

I expected Jennifer Love Hewitt's book to be witty and intelligent after hearing a radio interview where she talked about the difficulties of trying to find love, in front of the world's media and paparazzi. Instead it was a juvenile, dim-witted "how-to" guide in which she shares her ideas such as "hide your balls under a nice dress" in order to find love...The Day I Shot Cupid: Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I'm a Love-aholic

5.0 out of 5 stars Hello JLH, I'm shooting Cupid too...., April 24, 2011

First off I'd like to state that I wasn't particularly a huge fan of JLH, I mean I'd seen her in a few things, watched Ghost Whisperer, but didn't really go out of my way to see her in anything. So when I received this book as a gift I initially thought it was a piece of fluff and someone was making a joke. What I didn't realize at the time was it was a light-hearted and very funny look at relationships today. Yes JLH is not a prize winning author, but she also isn't looking to be. She comes across as a normal, level-headed and honest person. She shares moments of her life in a funny and interesting fashion.

She opens up about what you read in the magazines, and tells the real story behind the curtain. She's just a normal woman looking for a normal loving relationship, and she writes like she's talking to her best friend. I can think of no higher compliment to pay her other than she really makes you feel like you're her friend and she gives some pretty insightful advice. She makes jokes at her own expense and lays it all bare (althought the Vaggazzle subject traumatized me a bit) for everyone to read and learn from her mistakes. It's nothing more than refreshing to see someone of JLH's stature (and the fact that I can name about 50 guys that would kill to have 10 seconds in her presence) show that regardless of what you see or read, she's got her ups and downs. I think I walked away from what I thought as a gag gift a little bit wiser, a lot more able to laugh at my own pitfalls, and yes I admit it... my Name is <> and I'm now a JLH fan. I would love to see her tackle a few more subjects that have been off limits to us mere mortals.

Bear in mind the book isn't meant to be great literature, but it will make you laugh and at the end of it, you'll be able to look at yourself and think.. hey maybe I'm not so bad!

4.0 out of 5 stars Inside view on Girls, January 25, 2011
Jennifer Love Hewitt's book is witty. I seemed to pick this up in the perfect time in my life, trying to decide why boys are worth all the fuss. She reminded me in a very smart and funny way. I loved her humor and have to say I agreed 100% with her throughout the book. I really enjoyed this book, and it reminded me in several chapters on weighing all of the several factors of relationships and see outside your own point of view. My favorite chapter was "Worth" making yourself feel worthy and getting to know yourself again, "no relationship should break you."

5.0 out of 5 stars Death to Cupid and Praise for Love!, January 10, 2011
By
The Day I Shot Cupid by Jennifer Love Hewitt is a witty account of all of the good and bad things we as women go through with dating. Taken from someone who knows a thing or two about dating, Love is able to give a funny and refreshing take on the whole self-help book genre on relationships and flip it on its head.

The Day I Shot Cupid is a very witty and tell it like it is kind of self-help book on relationships. Honestly, I was quite surprised by this. I have never been a big Jennifer Love Hewitt fan. Sure, I've seen some shows she has been in, but she was never on my favorite list. If I had known she had this kind of a personality before, I would have added her to my favorites list much sooner!

The Day I Shot Cupid gives funny (and also quite helpful) advice on what you should notice when you first meet a guy, what to do before a date (and what not to do), things you shouldn't say on a date, a workout plan, and much more.

This is a great book for all women that are either in need of some romance advice, or perhaps need a good laugh about it all. I highly recommend it. It is an easy read, and feels like Love is right there with you drinking a margarita while dishing about past relationships.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny and cute, but solid advice, June 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Day I Shot Cupid: Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I'm a Love-aholic (Hardcover)
I admit, when I first saw this book I was skeptical. I've not really been a fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt, and I wasn't so sure what made her such as expert on love. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened to the first page.

The first thing I noticed was that the book is cute and fun. The graphics are light and silly in a nice, humorous way. I realized that Ms. Hewitt isn't claiming to have a whole bunch of credentials and saying she knows it all, but rather sharing her experiences in a light, funny manner that makes the reader laugh and empathize. There were moments when I was reading the chapters going "I know EXACTLY what she means" or "Yeah, I have had that crap happen to me too!"

A lot of the tidbits of advice and facts are interesting. The section about texting hit close to home for me. I never took the time to think that a guy could make a girl jump through hoops with such a simple task as texting, but they can and do. Hewitt even tries to build women's self esteem while telling truths that women may not want to hear, but need to know. Men and women are so different and the truth is that we just can't change biology. The best we can do is see things for what they are and do our best to be happy along the way.

I especially liked the quotes about love that were added to the beginnings of each section. They were interesting and made me think about what the whole concept of love is really about. Everyone is fixated on love. Everyone wants it and they want to keep it in their lives. Sometimes love is great and wonderful, but sometimes it knocks the wind out of you.

Ms. Hewitt covered all the bases in this book from the first meeting and spark to the break-up to the speed bumps of a relationship to the potential for marriage all the while doing a really good job of conveying ideas and emotions. The reader can tell she cares about the subject matter and isn't just saying things to make a buck. The reader can tell she is sincere and genuine. I've never really gotten that vibe from reading an advice book from an "expert".

I recommend this book to anyone who wants some solid advice on love. As I mentioned, Ms. Hewitt is giving us her take on matters and it comes through in a wonderful way. I now can't imgaine having not read it!!

This was quite surprising with a lot of one liner'd advice. It was written very well and I laughed out loud almost every other chapter.
She didn't get too personal and start trash talking like other celebs do.

A definate reread.

If you are under ten, this book is for you. The description indicated there would be some reference to her past love affais, yet NOT ONE PERSON was mentioned by name!!!! Buy this book if you like drivel. It is more of a self-help book for stupid pre-teenagers. I regret buying this book, wasn't even worth the postage.
