Editorial Reviews

Boy Sets Fire are back home. For 11 years the band have seen many things including their vans blowing up mid-tour, enduring 4 labels and touring continuously throughout the world non-stop. After being on the cutting edge of the new, then unknown, "emo" movement, BSF took to making hardcore and the scene a positive thing. Known for giving something for fans to think about in addition to the sing-a-long was all part of the Boysetsfire mantra about hardcore and how they lived their lives. Now, after being friends with Equal Vision Records over all these years and releasing a split with Snapcase back in 1999, Boysetsfire have signed with Equal Vision Records. Before releasing their next full-length next year Boysetsfire wanted their most treasured releases, The Day The Sun Went Out, Consider 7" and In Chrysalis EP back in print again. Released separately as two CDs, these will be available to fans that never had the chance to hear these groundbreaking songs. Remastered, remixed and including bonus cuts never heard before, this is the time for fans to remember one of hardcore’s pioneers. 2005 is here and its time to see Boysetsfire remembered for what they contributed to music and to look forward to what they still have to say in their life. Look out for a brand new Boysetsfire release in 2006 and massive tour plans following that release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Intensity, October 25, 2003
By
"lamochilax23" (La Mirada, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Day the Sun Went Out (Audio CD)
I first heard about BSF when my friend told me about them. Something about this band just struck a chord with me, it was the pure intensity in Nathan's voice. BSF is one of those bands that when you hear them you know they mean it. One of my favorite songs off this cd are "Another Badge of Courage" and "The Fine Art of Falling". These tracks are a great example of the passionate songwriting that BSF became known for. I know BSF is a politically-charged band, and i dont really agree with some of their lyrics, but its the near ballad songs that get me. This is the best BSF cd by far. I'm not dissing their other albums, but The Day the Sun Went Out is a true and honest effort.

i hadn't heard this album in about 8 years, it had mysteriously disappeared with my vinyl collection. one day, the lyrics to 'the power remains the same' popped back into my head and i had to have this album again. just as powerful as i remembered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boysetsfire's best album, March 29, 2007
This review is from: The Day The Sun Went Out (Audio CD)
"The Day The Sun Went Out" is Boysetsfire at their best. Some might say "After the Eulogy" is their best album. It is a very close call. Seeing the band 7 times live in Chicago, I just feel the emotion and the anger that went into these songs. They are the most heart felt songs they've ever written. At least to me any ways. You can't possibly understand this band without hearing this record. It is my favorite record of all time. Buy it!
