I picked this up after reading some reviews on this site. Let me tell you, I just want to say thank you to all the Knapsack fans that said to go get this album. I coudn't stop listening to it. They are just so good. From start to finish I was feeling the magic. If you like the get up kids and saves the day, you won't be disappointed. So stop reading the reviews and purchase the album.

All 3 of Knapsacks releases are great. They have a pop punk sound that could have been on the radio if someone chose to put it there. Solid band and solid album & despite what chucklenuts says in another review, they have done plenty since Knapsack (no together) & before Knapsack. Give them a shot.

Day 3 of Blair's new life?,
This review is from: Day Three of My New Life (Audio CD)
After being utterly mesmerized after buying "This Conversation," I bought this, and I have to say, it hooked me right in the same way. Though not quite as good as the follow-up, this album is a must have for all you emo kids out there! I think "Decorate the Spine" could have been a popular song if it were a single, I utterly and trully believe that. Other great songs, well, I like them all, but standouts include "Thursday Side of the Street," "Dimond Mine," Simple Favor," "Boxing Gloves," "Henry Hammers Harder," and "Steeper than we thought." Also, a big difference between this and Conversation is the atmosphere. This, I think, I more brighter, happier, and more "punk" sounding, while Conversation is lot more bitter and cold. And though thier lyrics don't always make a whole lot of sense, they fit in well with the music. Anyone who liked Conversation must have this. And if you really fall in love with the band, try the origional, "Silver Sweepstakes."

Knapsack is one of my all-time favorites. And it's all because of Blair. His voice, his songwriting...edgy, deep, emotive...just great rock music.I am very happy to see Blair continue in this tradition with his new band: THE JEALOUS SOUND!! it's like a whole new Knapsack...

Mycket bra skiva detta -stilen var populärt på slutet av nittiotalet när det gäller alternative rock /Emo. Påminner om band som Samiam, Jets to brazil, Superchunk osv osv..Bra sång och varierande melodier inga sega låtar.
Best track : "Decorate the spine" !!!

Day Three of My Newfound Interest in Knapsack,
By
This review is from: Day Three of My New Life (Audio CD)
I picked up a copy of Day Three of My New Life after it was recommended to me by a friend. Of course, I had heard of Knapsack before, but had never checked into it until I finally got this CD. I kept on playing the first three tracks over and over and then listened to the rest of the CD. The vocals are suprisingly good and you can feel the emotion, along with some heavy guitar riffs and punchy drumming. Decorate the Spine is one of the my favorite songs, especially when the drums kick in during the second verse. Of course, you can easily listen to this CD all the way through since the songs are that good. I found Heart Carved Tree to be depressing, yet the lyrics and the vocals combined with the guitars make it still a pretty good song, grief and all. Overall this CD is awsome. Knapsack been getting a lot of playing time in my stereo, and I doubt it will see a changing of the guard any time soon. Highly recommended to any emocore listener.

I'd never heard of the band Knapsack before, but after it was recommended to me "for fans of the Get Up Kids, Promise Ring, and Sunny Day Real Estate," I decided to give this album a try, and I was not disappointed. The recommendation was dead-on: very emotional, punky with crunchy guitars and an immediate pop sensibility. Hook-laden, timeless, and as gritty as it is earnest.

i like knapsack,

the best of knapsack's three lp's with a terrific title. this is the album i wished knapsack went out with. blair's soothing yet harsh raspy vocals are best displayed on songs "diamond mine", "courage was confused", and "decorate the spine". this album is not original. and yes it has been done before. but at the same time it IS original. because its done so well. if ur just a fan of good rock melodies then this is a album for u. if ur a fan of emo/emocore, (even tho i don't think this should be labeld emo) this is an absolute must.

*an review to follow* 5 stars are easy to come by on punk albums. this is an definate 10! wonderful wonderful guitars similer to sunny day real estates. not tooooo emo than you may think. very catchy guitar riffs its amazing how many things this band can to in just 3-5 minutes. emotions, guitar riffs, best vocal to go with the music, ah~ perfect record. if you like emo of any type or the poppy punk thats going on lately (nfg, ataris, etc.) this album is a nice step up. listen to this album once and you'll listen to it many many more times. plus if you dont like them its only what? 10$ you could just sell em and go back to limp bizkit. i guess thats all i have to say about this album. o yea best best best best best punk song (no not punk rock song, punk song) -Decorate the Spine- just the most pure lyrics. anyways go get this album when you get the money.*5/10* |
