5.0 out of 5 stars A fun video with all kinds of animals from the Bronx Zoo, December 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Day at the Zoo [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My kids just loved this video. It has all kinds of animals from the Bronx Zoo including great baby chimps and gorillas. The video teaches kids about the care and feeding of animals and the environment. There are a couple of good songs and the music was very good. I especially liked the hosts Garth and Susan and thought they were very informative without talking down to kids.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor production, but entertaining for small children, March 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Day at the Zoo [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you live near a decent zoo, and own a home video camera, you can probably put together 30 minutes of animal images of equivalent quality. The lighting isn't very good, some scenes go on way too long (how many close ups of flamingo feet do your children need to see?), and the entire feel is amateurish. But, hey, you're probably not going to take the time to make your own tape, and if your young children like zoo animals, this will hold their attention, at least for a little while. My search for a better zoo animals video continues, however.

3.0 out of 5 stars Passable, August 1, 2000

This movie did not really have an original plot, premise, and result, but somehow it clicked. It had a feel-good atmosphere and wasn't too bad. It sunk in some places and could degenerate into a slipshod performance weighed down with mediocrity and preachiness. Yet there were sufficient spurts of activity and charm to keep the movie alive.
