from the fifties, but so young and so enthralling,
By FRANCOIS "FCE" (France) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Day at the Movies (Audio CD)
I'm too young to have known these years, but somewhere in my youth I listened to this music and it was hidden in my memory. It came back to surface last summer during a trip in Wyoming, when the bus driver made us listen to "que sera sera". It was a moment of sheer pleasure and it has remained so. The voice is pure and delicate (and so easy for a frenchman!), and you are rocked by words and music. Each song is a little world in itself, funny and full of tenderness. Recording is pretty good and Doris Day's voice haunts you. You can't resist to the "10432 sheeps" ; you'll dream under the "silvery moon" and others moons, and to say nothing of the everlasting "que sera sera". This C.D. is a must for everybody who just loves beautiful music.

It's Magic,
By A Customer
This review is from: Day at the Movies (Audio CD)
Big surprise here is "It's Magic," not the version everyone has been hearing the past 45 years but what turns out to be the original hit single. Doris Day rerecorded the song with a Percy Faith arrangement in the '50s to replace the original, in Big Band Doris style, with Doris The Solo Star style. Both are divine recordings. There's much else here that's great fun and greatly enjoyable from a singer who sang nearly everything you could imagine and never met a song she couldn't make something of.

Doris Could Do It All,
By A Customer
This review is from: Day at the Movies (Audio CD)
Doris Day is another classic example(and reminder)of the days when people were genuinely multitalented. Whether in the movies,on television or records she was a top-flight performer of the first order. I recently started collecting her music after constantly borrowing my mom's albums and have alot more to go before it's complete. This is a great collection of all the songs she sang in many of her films. Extremely enjoyable.
