Not to diminish the merits of this release which, I'm sure, are numerous, I found this 1951 original version of the movie, on a Blu-ray disc (not a DVD) with 5.1 surround sound included in the The Day the Earth Stood Still (3-Disc Special Edition) [Blu-ray] remake - actually, the inclusion of the original version played an important part in persuading me to buy that 3-disc edition.I'm sure, there's nothing wrong with getting this release but anyone interested in getting the remake and the original - possibly as a somewhat lesser quality Blu-ray transfer - in one bundle may want to consider the alternative above. Hopefully, reviews of this specific release may help clarify why IT should be preferred to the new/old bundle. |
