Mothering is one of the most demanding and oftentimes thankless jobs in the world. Rebecca knows, and she shares from her heart some of her own experiences along with the encouragement she has gleaned from God's Word. I found her humor and honesty refreshing and her insights inspirational. I bought several copies to have on hand to give other mothers. This is a beautiful book I can highly recommend!

Rebecca Barlow Jordan has put together a series of daily devotional books, and I had the opportunity to read the one for mothers. Thanks to Rebecca & Zondervan for the book!

Each of the 40 daily devotions consist of:

A short piece of scripture, mostly the NIV translation.
A short story, sometimes from her own life or another's or simply something that most moms can relate to.
A thoughtful question (Day-Break) and statement (Day-Brief) to consider and hopefully apply in your own life.
A prayer (Day-Votedly Yours) to use it as a prompt in praying to God whatever is on your heart regarding the day's devotion.

While the author's focus is on the parenting aspect of a woman's life, she touches on the marital aspect a time or two. We all know how much parenting wears us out and how hubby get neglected sometimes!

Rebecca Barlow Jordan has crafted a wonderful devotional for moms which would be a great start to any day. The entries are short but full of truth and encouragement. I especially loved it when Rebecca shared stories from her own life and revealed the challenges and struggles she lived through (and grew through) as a mother. Pick one of these up for you and a friend. It's small enough to go in your glovebox, so you can read it while you're waiting to pick up the kids from sports or music practice. :)

This series of Day-votions is a great group of books which are an encouragement for all groups of women. Rebecca's books are filled with sage wisdom, enlightening advice, and delightful stories. The cookies on the cover of the book are like a metaphor for the sweet, inviting and satisfying experience of reading Rebecca's book. Enjoy!
