5.0 out of 5 stars Star Man's Son, April 20, 2009
This review is from: Daybreak 2250 A.D. (Star Man's Son) (Vintage Ace SF, D-534) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book as a young girl and loved it. My dad had an original copy when it was still called "Star Man's Son" and passed it down to me to read. (Does anyone know why the title was changed?) I think I read it around the same time I was into reading Jules Verne, Lost Horizon, and Carl Barks's comic books such as "Land Beneath the Ground" (around age 11). It isn't written on the same level as those books and comics, but it doesn't lack in imagination.

Scientifically speaking, it is written from a simpler point of view, to be sure, but that just adds to the flavor of this book in my opinion. Years before we'd "figured everything out" our imaginations were able to run wild. And the best part is that, when a lot of these stories were written, many things described in such books were entirely possible as far as anyone knew!

Don't let the previous reviewer put you off. This type of literature isn't for boys only. If you enjoy vintage sci-fi, you'd probably enjoy this book whether you are male or female. Even as an adult, you may enjoy it. I am looking forward to rereading it again when I go home to visit this summer (and I am 27!). It is a great vacation read!

This book was my introduction to sci-fi and I have been a fan of the genre ever since. I am anxious to read it again, perhaps this summer. I remember how the characters touched me as a child and I'd like to experience it again as an adult.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic Classic!!, September 26, 2009
This review is from: Daybreak 2250 A.D. (Star Man's Son) (Vintage Ace SF, D-534) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of my all-time favorite books. I read it when I was a young boy in the '60's, and have re-read it several times since. When I run out of books to read and haven't had a chance to get a new one, I'll re-read several books - Mysterious Island , When World's Collide and it's sequel After World's Collide, War of the Worlds or this book. This is just good basic fun reading.
