A voice that monopolizes the air when it is at full strength but can also break your heart at whispering volume might be an ideal way to describe what it’s like when Katherine Jenkins sings. “The young woman from the little place with the huge voice” is how some describe her. And lest we forget that she’s drop dead gorgeous with a body to match. With recordings that ... Read more in Amazon's Katherine Jenkins Store

Editorial Reviews

Daydream sees Katherine Jenkins, the record-breaking multi-platinum-selling mezzo soprano, return to her musical roots. Her most personal album to date, it draws together music and songs that have inspired her over the course of her life, from the classical, traditional, folk and pop traditions. Stand-out tracks include the stunning "Break It To My Heart"; a deeply moving interpretation of the Celtic classic "Black Is The Colour"; "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Mis‚rables, rarely performed in French; a brand new composition of "Ave Maria"; and Katherine's stirring tribute to service men and women through the ages, "A Flower Tells A Story".

5.0 out of 5 stars Music doesn't get better than this! November 6, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I was introduced to Katherine Jenkins through the Graham Norton Show on BBC America. She is one of my favorite vocalists. This is far and away her best release surpassing last year's stunning Believe. All of the tracks are outstanding. Particularly noteworthy are J'avais reve d'une autre vie (I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables), L'Alba Verra (with music by Chopin, Tristesse Etude, Op. 10 No.3), the Welsh hymn Love Divine (Hyfrydol) and Abigail's Song (from the Doctor Who Christmas Carol). Picking out the best from a collection of music this incredibly beautiful is nearly impossible, but I love the haunting tune of Abigail's song and Jenkins' performance is exquisite. Music doesn't get any better than this. Very highly recommended! Do yourself a favor and purchase Believe, too! I was fortunate to see Jenkins perform last year near Washington, DC. She did a meet and greet after the show and she is one of the warmest, most gracious people I have ever met.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best album to date! October 19, 2011
By JMiller
Format:Audio CD
Katherine Jenkins really out did herself on this album. She has established herself as the best mezzo soprano for sometime and continues with this album. The difference is this album shows her excellence in crossover classical music as well. Her current single released from this ablum, Break It To My Heart, is an absolutely beautiful song and I expect it to hit the top of the charts. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. Love this singer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing October 29, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Because Amazon hasn't had this is stock for weeks I bought it directly from Katherine Jenkin's website as as mp3. This album is absolutely amazing. It's even better than Believe. She said she wanted to create a sense of intimacy with this album and she definitely succeeded. Best tracks are Black is the Colour, Your Silhouette, Carrickfergus, A Flower tells a Story, Break it to My heart, and Blaenwern. You won't regret buying this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quietly Beautiful November 1, 2011
By Hatter
Format:Audio CD
Katherine Jenkins has become my favorite classical vocalist and I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this album. To my ear, this album is quite different from her previous releases. In most of her previous songs, the sheer power of her voice is either on full display or constantly stirring just below the surface. Daydream mostly features both softer vocals and softer orchestral arrangements. The Daydream track which is most reminiscent of her more typical style is the "bonus track" Abigail's Song (which I love).

I enjoyed most of the tracks on this album, and am happy this album was finally released, but it is different from much of her earlier work. The only tracks which I know are available via the internet are "Break It To My Heart" and "Abigail's Song." "Break It To My Heart" is representative of most of the selections on this album and your reaction to it will probably be a good gauge of how much you will like/dislike this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite and Beautiful November 26, 2011
By D. Luce
Format:Audio CD
One of those discs I find myself listening to repeatedly. All the songs sound excellent together and not one dud. Ms. Jenkins voice is strong and full. Abigail's Song is especially haunting and I also have a soft spot for Hyfrydol. Surprised she has not been able to make herself more well know in the United States. Highly recommended easily one of her best outings to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS CD IS REALLY NICE! December 23, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I am a fan of KJ. I love her strong, mezzo voice. This CD is great and I love that it includes the Dr. Who "Abigail's Song." I am also a fan of Dr. Who.

Although I prefer her classical songs, the mix and crossover songs are quite pretty. Her voice nicely blends itself for either style.

I have several other CDs from this singer, and love each one of them. If I compare her previous CDs to this one, I do like the previous ones better. But nonetheless, this one was still worth it enough for me to purchase.

Hope this helps.

Not quite what my husband was expecting, as he was really enthralled with her performance with the MormonTabernacle Choir in their Days of 47 concert 2 years ago.
