This is truly one of the great toys on the market. We were looking for an open ended fort building toy for two 2 ˝-year-olds and a six year old. My twins loved playing with this toy at an open gym time, so we decided to purchase it for the holidays. While it is initially a little difficult for the youngest children to connect the parts because they are a tight fit, my children still love the construction possibilities. It just takes a little parental assistance to put the parts together. Moreover, it is sturdy enough to have withstood many children playing at a gym. My girls have loved building "houses" complete with sinks to wash hands. My older son has created amazing structures on his own including plows, planes, a space shuttle, and more. We never needed the suggested pictures on the box to spark the imagination. The parts are sturdy enough to throw a blanket or sheet over to create a great fort. This is one of the great open-ended toys that never grows old and encourages creative play and develops structural concepts.

Great fun. My kids have built forts and homes for all their animals. Just note the item does ship with a picture on the box. So get to it before your kids if it is a surprise.

My boys, 4 and 8, can spend hours coming up with things to build, from robots to houses complete with "rooms". They've had this toy for 2 years and still play with it. My four year-old has just recently, in the past few months, gotten to where he can snap the pieces together with ease, and now that his imagination is taking off, he and his brother have so much fun dreaming up inventions together. When we first got the set, Dad or I had to be there to help (with both boys, but especially the 2 year old.) If you get the set and are disappointed that your 3-5 year old doesn't seem that adept or interested, I would say to invent stuff with them (mine LOVED when dad and I got on the floor with them), and give it some time. Once they figure it out, they will get into it and become really proud of what they make! The pieces have stood up to a lot of putting together and breaking apart and none have been broken or lost. It's well worth the money, IMO.

The children love playing with these! The pieces are sturdy and snap in snuggly to the connectors. The possibilities are endless when building with these and they are the perfect size for ages 3 and up, my school age children use these for hours. Love to see a toy where they can use their imagination!

This is an expensive toy for it not to be great. The problem with the toy is that it the creations don't stand up. This means you must have 2 people to hold the structure together as you build & then it will fall over as soon as the child starts to play with it. What good is a fort, box or airplane you can't get into? The result is crying & a quick loss of interest in the toy. You then have a huge crate of plastic pieces that you must decide what to do with. Not impressed.

We inherited this toy from a neighbor. My 6 year old and 4 year old took to it immediately and started building. My 4 year old needed a little help in terms of design but was able to put the pieces together easily and knew what she wanted to make. My 6 year old was able to build everything in the instruction guide on his own and had a blast building the puppet theater then playing with it.
One of the reviewers mentioned that these are not sturdy that relates more to the structures you build than the quality of the toy. The set we have was used with kids who are in college now - it had been stored in a basement for years and is in fantastic condition (a bit dusty and musty but nothing a good washing won't fix). The structures my kids have built are a little topsy turvy if they aren't careful with how they connect the pieces. That said - I don't foresee any major injuries if the structure topples and I have very clumsy accident prone kids who. If your child likes to build things this is a great toy - my kids also love plain building blocks, and road/train sets that they can configure the way they want. If you are looking for something that is fun just for the heck of it after it's built then this is not that toy a huge part of the fun is in building and designing. My kids did play with the puppet theater they build for a while but had equally as much fun building it.

My 5 yo son's teachers said this was his favorite toy at school so Santa gave it to him for Christmas 2010. An instant hit with him, my husband & even me! He's got a good imagination any way but this toy enhances it - he builds spaceships, pirate swords, a sledding tobagan, the helicopter (w/Daddy) - you name it, he'll build it out of No Ends. Only downside for us is that most things he wants to build are large & take up room and we're low on space. I would get these for as young as 4 (could be too much a hitting tool for younger ones) and our 9 yo friends loved them too.

I first discovered the No Ends building set at our church. Every Sunday when I would take my son into the pre-school room, the No Ends were the first thing that he went for. I even got hooked on it myself, because of all the different things that you can do with it. My son's imagination has truly blossomed with this toy. This product is aptly named No Ends, because there literally is no end to the depths of what a child can build using his or her imagination. My daughters also enjoy playing with their little brother and helping him to build skyscrapers, letters, helicopters, airplanes, spheres, igloos, tents...it just goes on and on. Even when we are placing the pieces back in a storage bin, my son is learning the science of spacial relations.
The only downside that I would have to say about the product is that I originally had the impression that this would be an indestructible toy. Knowing full well how DESTRUCTIVE my 3yr-old son is, I was confident that this would be a toy that he couldn't break. No so. Within one month, a couple of the connectors were either chipped or completely broken apart. Realistically speaking, NO TOY IS INDESTRUCTIBLE! So, I must admit that this product is fairly indestructible. So I still give it a 4.75 out of 5 stars! If this toy could get 10 stars, I would give it 20! The price is reasonable considering all that you get. We've quickly realized that my son needs more pieces to expand his imagination. So we are going to order more pieces. The company gives you options to buy individual pieces or additional sets. I would recommend the 150-piece set for first-timers. When (if) your child outgrows this toy, it will have a HUGE resale value or would make a GREAT donation to the local Goodwill, church, or pre-school. This is a great product.

We got the 360 piece set and am VERY glad we did. Taurus Toy/ Penn North 30360 No Ends 360 Piece Kit Just today we built a fort that used every connector and long piece included- so with a smaller set we'd be too limited. Of course, they do take up lots of room- the 360 piece set comes in a perfectly sized 19" sq cube box.
My 4 year old can get the pieces together and apart okay, but he still likes our help designing and building. Just because kids can't play with it by themselves doesn't make it a bad toy; I need fun(for me and my husband)ways to spend more time my kids and what a great way to do it. We've built a rocket, the helicopter, the t-rex, a giant sphere, a castle and more. The pictures on the box can be complex and out of balance, but only use them as inspiration anyways. We did get an order form in the box where you can order additional pieces by type- long or short straight, curve, connector, etc- a good resource if we want to further expand our set. And we've only had the set 3 weeks, but I have no worries about them holding up. |
