3.0 out of 5 stars Aaron Paul saves this movie from being kind of terrible, August 13, 2010
This review is from: Daydreamer (DVD)
Although I respect this film for its interesting concept and character development, I just don't believe it was executed properly. I felt that the film overcomplicated a simple idea. It's like the writer was trying to be edgy, which created this disconnection with the audience. The most realistic and engaging aspect of the movie was when I felt the writer wasn't trying that hard to force a reaction; as in the romance between the two main characters Clinton (Aaron Paul) and Casey (Arielle Kebbel). The relationship between these two characters is what really saved this film. I also thought the general feeling of the movie changed too dramatically from beginning to end. And in the end, when I expected everything to be explained, it wasn't. The writer seemed so set on having somewhat of a happy ending that some of the realism was lost.

This film had another great performance by actor Aaron Paul. Once again, Paul plays a drug addict. However, this time his character is suffering from memory loss in which he awakes unaware of his past actions. I don't regret watching this film because I'm a fan of Aaron Paul from the AMC series "Breaking Bad" and I wanted to see this earlier work of his. But if you'd like to see an indie film where he shines a bit more, I would recommend checking out "Choking Man." That's a great film.

5.0 out of 5 stars I got a pre-release. Intriguing., October 14, 2009
This review is from: Daydreamer (DVD)
I've seen the pre-release version. Dark and intriguing. Aaron Paul is really great. The story draws you in, never guessing what is happening until near the end.
