5.0 out of 5 stars Great album.
Awesome album. Its amost better than the first cd. I just wish they would have left off "Tag fur Tag (feat. Andreas Meyer/Forma Tadre)" He has a terrible voice. Other than that I would say this cd is one of the best of the year.

TRACK LIST

02. Get a Clue (duet with Julia Beyer/Technoir)

I recently came across Distorted Reality's music on the internet. After hearing a few samples of their songs, I decided to get their cd "Daydreams and Nightmares". I have to admit that I was not completely impressed with what I heard. First of all, I don't like it when bands tack on remixes. That should be kept completely separate for another cd. The remixes on "Daydreams and Nightmares" were generic as generic gets. I was not impressed. Secondly was it really necessary to include the live mix of "Rebel Yell"? Sorry but that should not have been recorded at all. The first ten songs are original tracks. Some were pretty good. I really dug"Get a Clue" and "Forever". Great overall club songs to dance to. The only ballad I liked on the cd was "I Am Waiting". The other ballads were boring and lifeless. As for the duo's cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell", nothing beats the original. The production on the cd was pretty shoddy. I hope for the next album, the band doesn't include remixes and they pick up the pace on the songs. The beats were too slow for me on a lot of the songs. Here's hoping for improvement.

Heard this once a long time ago and it had enough impact I sought it out to buy much later on. Not really my kind of music, normally, but I love this. "Something Wicked" became something of an anthem to me for a while. It's hard to give an in-genre review as this is probably the only band in this genre I listen to, but as far as music overall goes, it's full of interesting lyrics and rhythms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Techno Addict, July 25, 2006
This review is from: Daydreams and Nightmares (Audio CD)
This is a good addition to your techno collection.

I can't identify any specific song that really rocked me. However, I can say they they all did, from start to finish.

I am constantly searching for great techno bands. I think a group is really good if I feel I should buy a second or third CD from that same group. Bottom line:I would buy another CD from Distorted Reality.

It's not harsh like some industrial stuff I've listened to (e.g. Combichrist or Wumpscut), yet it's not generic background techno blather either (Synth Pop I think they call it). I've found web sites that catogorize electronic music by group and sub-genre, but they are not all consistent. So let me put it this way, Distorted Reality falls in-between. I would put them between Neurotic Fish or Mind-in-a-box and a band like Ego Likeness (which I found to be a little softer but still good).
