5.0 out of 5 stars Unleashing Creative Power, May 24, 2009
This review is from: Daydreams at Work: Wake Up Your Creative Powers (Paperback)
I found Daydreams at Work to be an insightful and stimulating book. Amy Fries has opened our eyes to the powerful and creative effects of daydreaming. I daydream often and have used many of the ideas that come from this both at home and work. Recently I held a meeting at work and challenged the team to use the power of their daydreams to come up with concepts to promote a new technology. I would encourage everyone to disregard the negative stereo types surrounding daydreaming and read this terrific book to help you get the most out of your daydreams.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daydreams, not just for slackers anymore., May 13, 2009

Finally something that reaffirms what I believed but kind of felt bad about doing--daydreaming at work. I felt like a slacker even though I often would jot down ideas or remember things that would help with a current project after taking a mental break. Glad to know that I'm not alone-- that I can be productive and even perhaps more healthy by de-stressing through daydreams.

I was really impressed by the amount of research presented here as well as the personal anecdotes that made it all very real, very relatable. All in all a fun and informative read. Any good boss worth their weight in TPS reports should hand copies out to their employees.

Did you ever dream that you would get credit for daydreaming? Amy Fries' book "Daydreams at Work" releases us from the guilt of "woolgathering" and tells us that we are really working. Her well written and well researched book reveals to us the secret that creative ideas come from letting the mind wander into new, unstructured territory. Her examples of ideas born in daydreaming inspire us to do the same. The book is interesting and fun and invites us to join the family of creative minds.
