Beautiful Indian flute music, December 5, 2009

I've long been a fan of Indian classical music. Simply stated, when a friend played this for me a few weeks ago, I was brought to stillness and silence by its beauty. I have not been particularly moved by most of the wooden flute music - from ANY tradition - that I have heard during the past 10 years; but this ... is ... DIFFERENT. I had to find it and bring it home right away. Chaurasia is one of those true masters whose creativity and expressiveness are freed by his virtuosity rather than hampered by it. This CD instantly became one of my favorite meditative backgrounds, and I use it almost daily as such. That, though, is not the only way I enjoy and appreciate it. This is stunningly beautiful music.
