Basically takes all four ccna books and compacts them into 375 pages. A good way to study for the cert and review topics learned recently. Would not be suitable for one who has little knowledge of the ccna concepts since it briefly covers major topics such as Spanning Tree and routing protocols. All in all a great value and just what I was looking for--a review of all topics covered in the ccna curriculum.

I have found the "31 Days Before the CCNA Exam" by Allan Johnson, to be an excellent source of information. I am hoping to take the test within the next week or so. I recommend this book for anyone desiring to take the CCNA exam. If you are looking for a condensed study aid this it it!

I had been taking a CCNA Discovery course at a local community college, and my teacher mentioned that the 4th semester really didn't teach any new material and instead wanted to review for the CCNA using this book as reading material. I skipped the class, but picked up the book anyway to provide an additional source of review over the Cisco Press material for my ICND2 exam, and i'm glad I did. I think the book does a great job covering the basics of each of the topics that are covered on the exam without having to read a lot of the wordy explanations that are found in the official books. It definitely touches on every topic that you'll find on the CCNA or ICND exams, and does a solid job going over both concepts and troubleshooting. For those that need a quick refresher on technologies or exams, it does a great job. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the book as your sole study guide, especially if you're coming into the CCNA or ICND tests completely raw, but perfect as a companion study book or someone that hasn't read over the concepts in some time.

In short an interesting title, exclusively written for the Cisco Network Academy students, who are preparing for the Cisco CCNA 640-802 Certification exam. The author Allan Johnson takes a very broad look at practical way to make you understand the concepts in 31 days in a very concise way. He has emphasized on concepts and terminologies used in Cisco CCNA 640-802 Certification exam in an interesting way which definitely helps you to summarize your learning.


Although the title "31 days before your CCNA Exam" aims at Cisco Network Academy students, but it can be used for the Cisco CCNA 640-802 Certification aspirers who does self study.

The author Allan Johnson divided the title suiting in to 31 chapters, which are so concise you can finish each chapter in an hour. The cream of the title "31 days before your CCNA Exam" is the section called "Exam day and post exam information" which gives the CCNA Certification aspirers guidelines on what to expect after the completion of exam as well as what they should do if they fail to pass the exam on first attempt. One more section that I really liked is "CCNA Skills review and practice" which helps you to practice the CCNA skills which includes most of the CCNA 640-802 exam configurations skills in one topology, which covers topics like VLAN configuration, frame-relay configuration, inter vlan routing, EIGRP,VTP, port security , STP. You can practice those topologies either on Cisco Packet Tracer or GNS3 graphical network simulator.

Overall the title "31 days before your CCNA Exam" is a true gem, but cannot be a only source for passing CCNA 640-802 exam, this title is good for the some one who is looking for quick reference on CCNA 640-802 exam topics in an well organized way. I completed and passed my CCNA a few years ago and let it expire. TO retake it now, this was an invaluable resource. I read it here and there when i first prepared for the exam but this time, it made a lot more sense to use it as my sole prep text.

Reviews saying it is incomplete or glosses over the details need to re-read the title of this book - it is a reviser, not an all encompassing book to be used exclusively for the ccna exam prep.

Book is not what we call a must read but it will help you study and prep for you ccna test.

The book is fairly good but a bit too short on some subjects. It would be nice to find a medium between the endless detailed Cisco book and this one.

I still haven't taken my certification exam, but this book has really helped me to review some of the topics wich i have already forgotten. This is a really recomended book.

This book was recommended by my professor and it's been a great review. I would not recommend this book for someone who has never taken a course on this subject though. It's a great book to review before your CCNA exam though.

I LOVE this book! It contains a pullout 31 day calendar in the front, with a few topics per day for study. Inside the book is not a bunch of questions ( so DON'T expect this to be just another run of the mill practice exame book ), the author provides an encapsulated review on each topic, followed by EXAMPLES of how to do what was just reviewed. *It's a 31-day, easily readable, condensed perfectly, textbook!
