5.0 out of 5 stars MAKES YA WANNA DANCE, DOESN'T IT?, March 23, 2002
This review is from: Days Go By (Audio CD)
This trio from South London have managed to put together a hit that by all accounts is going to be HUGE. When I first saw the Mitsubishi commercial (with that stunningly cute girl dancing in the passenger seat) I thought it was a new Modjo song ("Lady" -- remember?) or something. Then I heard the song on [the radio] in SF not long after, and that's when I found out it was this new act, Dirty Vegas. My fellow 'dance music-loving' Amazonians, I cannot recommend this single enough...in 2000 it was Groove Armada's "I See You Baby" and Alice Deejay's "Better Off Alone". Last year it was Daft Punk's "One More Time" and the Wiseguys' "Stop The Commotion". This year, it's gonna be all about Dirty Vegas with "Days Go By". The music video is tight too ~ trust me. This jam is off the hook.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally they get the attention that they deserve!, June 9, 2002

Milo (Planet Earth) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Days Go By (Audio CD)
There has been some silly car commercial playing on TV in which a cute and kinda dorky chick "tries" to "pop" to some "unkown" and cool "techno" tune. The song in question is none other than Dirty Vegas' gem "Days Go By." The exposure has allowed the single to crack into US Top 30 territory (relatively unusual for an electronica tune) and I must admit that it is more than deserved. "Days Go By" has been around for a little while at some underground dance clubs and was a hit in Ibiza and the London dance scene thanks to its inclusion in Pete Tong's sets. The reasons for its success are obvious: the melody is simply beautiful, the rather ethereal vocals are quite hypnotising, and some of the remixes are just incredible. Unfortunately, and this is the reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, this is the kind of single that simply misses on too many of the worthy mixes. There are at least 3 mixes missing here, Lucien Foorte's being one of them. Given that all you really get on this single is just an acoustic add-on, I'd recommend to purchase the full album instead (or one of the 12 inch singles, which will include better mixes). Still, this song is just too nice to give its single a low score; it certainly deserves to eventually enter the top ten that mot dance singles miss nowadays.

PEOPLE ARE RIGHT. . .MITSUBISHI IS SCORING OFF THE CHARTS WITH YOUR CHOICE OF PROMO SONGS. THAT GIRL POPPIN' IN THE FRONT PASSENGER LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE THAT ACTRESS, ELISA DUSHKU. FABULOUS SONG. . .CAN'T HELP MOVIN' AROUND WHEN IT COMES ON. I'M SERIOUSLY THINKING OF E-MAILIN MITSUBISHI MOTORS AND TELLING THEM THEY NEED TO SELL A COMPILATION CD OF THE SONGS IN THEIR ADS OVER THE PAST COUPLE YEARS. I THINK THIS ONE IS MY FAVE THOUGH.
