5.0 out of 5 stars MAKES YA WANNA DANCE, DOESN'T IT?
This trio from South London have managed to put together a hit that by all accounts is going to be HUGE. When I first saw the Mitsubishi commercial (with that stunningly cute girl dancing in the passenger seat) I thought it was a new Modjo song ("Lady" -- remember?) or something. Then I heard the song on [the radio] in SF not long after, and that's when I found out it was...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so Obscure Anymore
These guys have been around in the UK quite a while and is just making their US debut this month via a TV spot with Mitsubishi... watch for the Mitsubishi spot where a girl on the passenger seat is 'popping' to 'Days Go By'.

This trio from South London have managed to put together a hit that by all accounts is going to be HUGE. When I first saw the Mitsubishi commercial (with that stunningly cute girl dancing in the passenger seat) I thought it was a new Modjo song ("Lady" -- remember?) or something. Then I heard the song on [the radio] in SF not long after, and that's when I found out it was this new act, Dirty Vegas. My fellow 'dance music-loving' Amazonians, I cannot recommend this single enough...in 2000 it was Groove Armada's "I See You Baby" and Alice Deejay's "Better Off Alone". Last year it was Daft Punk's "One More Time" and the Wiseguys' "Stop The Commotion". This year, it's gonna be all about Dirty Vegas with "Days Go By". The music video is tight too ~ trust me. This jam is off the hook.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally they get the attention that they deserve!, June 9, 2002

There has been some silly car commercial playing on TV in which a cute and kinda dorky chick "tries" to "pop" to some "unkown" and cool "techno" tune. The song in question is none other than Dirty Vegas' gem "Days Go By." The exposure has allowed the single to crack into US Top 30 territory (relatively unusual for an electronica tune) and I must admit that it is more than deserved. "Days Go By" has been around for a little while at some underground dance clubs and was a hit in Ibiza and the London dance scene thanks to its inclusion in Pete Tong's sets. The reasons for its success are obvious: the melody is simply beautiful, the rather ethereal vocals are quite hypnotising, and some of the remixes are just incredible. Unfortunately, and this is the reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, this is the kind of single that simply misses on too many of the worthy mixes. There are at least 3 mixes missing here, Lucien Foorte's being one of them. Given that all you really get on this single is just an acoustic add-on, I'd recommend to purchase the full album instead (or one of the 12 inch singles, which will include better mixes). Still, this song is just too nice to give its single a low score; it certainly deserves to eventually enter the top ten that mot dance singles miss nowadays.

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVIN' THIS SONG, April 9, 2002

PEOPLE ARE RIGHT. . .MITSUBISHI IS SCORING OFF THE CHARTS WITH YOUR CHOICE OF PROMO SONGS. THAT GIRL POPPIN' IN THE FRONT PASSENGER LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE THAT ACTRESS, ELISA DUSHKU. FABULOUS SONG. . .CAN'T HELP MOVIN' AROUND WHEN IT COMES ON. I'M SERIOUSLY THINKING OF E-MAILIN MITSUBISHI MOTORS AND TELLING THEM THEY NEED TO SELL A COMPILATION CD OF THE SONGS IN THEIR ADS OVER THE PAST COUPLE YEARS. I THINK THIS ONE IS MY FAVE THOUGH.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eclipse Song #2, March 15, 2002

Great dance tune...and the new Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial does it justice. Love the hot girl "popping" in the passenger seat. Wonder if Mitsubishi will do for this band what it did for the Wiseguys "Start the Commotion" in last year's Eclipse commercial. The first track is the best on this CD single. Can't wait to see the music video.

4.0 out of 5 stars Days go by, and I still dig it!, June 7, 2002

When you first heard this song you, like myself, probably thought that it was called "Without U" because this seems to be the most pronounced lyrics. Isn't it just amazing how commercials can have such a huge effect on a song's success? I can see it now, music artists are going to be practically breaking companies' doors down trying to get their trax featured in commercial spots! I'm not exactly sure who, if any group, to compare these guys to because they seem to have a style all their own. The smooth, slightly vocoded vocals and tribal-esque beats really set this song apart. The full-length album is available now and if it's anything like this track, it will be flying off the shelves and radio stations will be getting bombarded with requests for songs from it! Hopefully, this will help them become more known as Dirty Vegas instead of "that car commercial group". I highly recommend giving either of their efforts a listen. Note: I rated this single 4 of 5 stars because it has male-vocals(I prefer female-vocal trax) and I would have liked a couple extra remixes. If my review was helpful to you, then don't forget to vote. THANKS!

Great dance tune...the new Mitsubishi Eclipse TV spot does this song justice. The commercial is hot! Maybe Mitsubishi will do great things for this band as they did when they used The Wiseguys "Start The Commotion" song in last year's Eclipse ad. Looking forward to the music video...

What a great beat. Ever since I saw the Mitsubishi commercial with the girl in the front seat pop-locking, I had to find out what the song was. By the way, the commercial is cool. The sound is sort of techno with a distant electronical vocal in the background. The accoustic version puts a totally different spin on the ball. Don't miss this one. This disk is hot, hot, hot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it for the Acoustic Version!, September 13, 2002

This review is from: Days Go By (Audio CD)
By now, you're all familiar with the housed-up dance hit "Days Go By," which is already shaping up to be one of the best singles of the year. But this CD is worth picking up for the acoustic version, which is stunningly good. These guys strip the song of its synthetic and electronic production, and the result is a breathtakingly good slice of folk pop that codgers like James Taylor could only dream of recording. Pure bliss! Indulge and enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT DANCE SINGLE FOR 2002, April 29, 2002
This review is from: Days Go By (Audio CD)
I like everyone else heard this song on the ubiqtious Mitsubushi commerical with all the passenagers getting their "groove on".
It sounded like one of those dance songs you'd hear late night at a tamer rave. But I liked it.So this morning,I see the video on VH1 and I came to like it.The video's concept of a breakdancer who breakdances his life away on the street corner after his girlfriend leaves him is quite clever,I must say and is a good vibe for the song.

This song is reministic of those dance songs from 1997,the year when MTV and major labels got more hip to dance music. The year of the Chemical Brothers,Roni Size,Propellerheads,Death In Vegas...I could go on."Days Go By" could be a big crossover pop hit.
It's good that advertisers are using unknown dance/techno songs in their national TV ad campaigns because it opens a music fan's ear to a song they usually wouldn't hear...
