The Best of Hank Cramer,
By Jerry Kooken (Prescott, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Days Gone By (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD a number of months ago. I have "West by Northwest" which I rate as a "Top Notch" CD. But I am inclinded to rate this lastest release a notch higher. Songs like "Cold Missouri Waters" about the forest fire in the Montana mountains in the late 40's that killed thirteen men, "The Hillcrest Mine" tells about the disasters from a father's point of view to his son. These disasters took the lives of over 150 men. "The Fire is Burning Still" is another song that sings of disaster. It tells of the mine fire in Utah that took the lives of 26 men and one women. They covered the mine up but as the song says "the fires are burning still".These songs will bring a chill to your bones and a tear to you eye. "Come Back To Me" is a very moving number, with Hank's deep voice and very fine piano by David Lange. There are a couple of Sea Shanties on this CD that will set your toes to tapping. You can tell by the energy put forth in the songs on this CD that Hank and his partner Steve Guthe really enjoy themselves. The blending of Hank and Steve voice's make this a very good CD to put in the player and head on down the road, tapping on the steering wheel, and singing along.
