Book Description

August 15, 2003
The Canterbury Tales, Monty Python, the Brontd sisters, and The Prisoner. Charming garden teas and pints at the corner pub. The mystery of Stonehenge, golf at St. Andrews, witty tavern signs, poker-faced palace guards, and a ramble through Edinburgh's ancient streets. Celebrating England, Scotland, Wales, and their cultures, characters, and particular beauty, 365 Days in Great Britain is back for a stunning second year. A building in Cambridgeshire, cloaked in autumn-colored ivy. Jagged rock formations keeping watch over Cornwall's coast. Windmills in Norfolk, Jane Austen's Hampshire, the lively clash of tradition and modernity in London. Each day's detail, still life, or landscape and the calendar's eloquent text transports Anglophiles to the place they'd rather be.

Book Description

Storied old castles and quaint country cottages. The stiff upper lips (and fuzzy hats!) of the guards at Buckingham Palace. Abbey ruins crumbling into bucolic pastures. Convivial games of cricket, soaring cathedrals, cutting-edge London, fanciful topiary gardens, Shakespeare's legacy, the pleasure and camaraderie of a pint at the corner pub. 365 Days in Great Britain captures the essence of England, Scotland, and Wales—the deep-rooted history, the vibrant culture, the singular British charm—in hundreds of full-color photographs. From Norfolk to Scotland's Clyde Valley, from the Isle of Man to Dyfed in Wales, it's a year-long holiday. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Back Cover

ANCIENT CASTLE RUINS, COZY PUB SIGNS, THE COTTAGES, THE GREENERY

Spend a year on the other side of the pond. Glamorgan's lush green valleys. Brightly painted beach huts in Southwold. London hustle and bustle, royal watching, the exquisitely manicured gardens of Sussex, Yorkshire's moors. "Toad in the Hole" and "Bubble and Squeak." Glorious old chuches, rowing on the Thames, and George Eliot's Warwickshire: "Sweet spring came to Milby notwithstanding: the elm tops were red with buds; the churchyard was starred with daisies; the lark showered his love-music on the flat-fields."
Featuring engaging text by Phillip Hoffhines and hundreds of full-color photographs, 365 DAYS IN GREAT BRITAIN celebrates the proud history, warm spirit, and quirky charms of England, Scotland and Wales. For Anglophiles, this is the best place to be—their lively, beloved Britain. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

3.0 out of 5 stars This is a WALL calendar, December 18, 2006
I was expecting this to be a page-a-day calendar because of the title "365 days in Great Britain." A wall calendar is not what I was expecting, though I take credit for the mistake, as I should have checked the Product Description section, which does state that it is a WALL calendar. However, I was buying a lot of page-a-day calendars for gifts. Although this is not exactly what I was expecting, it still looks okay, although I did not open the package and look at the individual pages, as it IS a gift.
