5.0 out of 5 stars Moving Pictures - A One Album Wonder?
When I hear the band Moving Pictures mentioned, yes, the song "What about me" comes to mind. The first time I ever heard (as well as saw the song being performed) was on MTV. It was a live video of the song. That song for me, as well as for others out there, was my theme song if you will. It seemed everyone of my friends were getting everything out of life...

3.0 out of 5 stars One song is worth the purchase price alone
In the U.S., they were one-hit-wonders from down under. Most of the CD can be listened to once a year and that is more than enough. But the song "What About Me" is a very powerful, solid rock ballad that makes this CD worth the purchase price alone. If you are 30-something, this tune will bring back fond memories or your high school years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving Pictures - A One Album Wonder?, June 5, 2000
This review is from: Days of Innocence (Audio CD)
When I hear the band Moving Pictures mentioned, yes, the song "What about me" comes to mind. The first time I ever heard (as well as saw the song being performed) was on MTV. It was a live video of the song. That song for me, as well as for others out there, was my theme song if you will. It seemed everyone of my friends were getting everything out of life they wanted, but me. Whenever I get a little misty-eyed or even a little depressed because my life isn't where I want it to be, I put on a few "sensitive" songs, "What about me" being one of them, and I have a good cleansing cry. This song meant so much to me that I have two original vinyl copies of "Days of Innocence" , one being a promo copy. By the way I agree that the one song is worth the cost for the cd, but hey the rest of the album aint bad either, a real bargain. If you like Moving Pictures, and don't mind buying a cd for one really good song, and others, check out the re-issue of Danny Wilsons' "Meet Danny Wilson" I think "Marys' Prayer is worth the cost of the cd too, and this is coming from a guy with over 1300 cds and over 1500 vinyl.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Wait, April 21, 2000

"What about Me?" To me, this song is a classic, therefore the price of the CD is worth it. This is the only time I've heard the rest of their songs, and I LOVE them! Despite not hearing "What about Me" for at least 15 years, I still could sing every word, and I plan on committing most of the CD to memory. If you aren't sure if you want to order this CD based on only one song, trust me: do it! The piano, the saxophone, everything is so wonderful. Such clear voices. Everything you love about "What about Me" can be found on each and every song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving Pictures - A Review From Down Under, December 25, 2000

I too was a 'teenager' of the 80's, and Moving Pictures were one of my favourite bands. Being a local band for me here in Melbourne, Australia, I used to see them live at many venues. They were an awesome band with a huge following. Alex Smith, the singer, had a great voice and singing the classic "What About Me" got the crowd going everywhere they played. A number of the songs of the album got into the top 10 charts here in OZ, but WAM stayed there for over two months. They released a second album called "Matinee' which I have on vinyl. It had a few good songs on it as well. The band split up and the lead songwriter (Gary, who played keyboards I think) went on to join another band called 1927). I never realised Moving Pictures actually made it to the US. They are one Aussie band who have not made a comeback!.

Nostalgia - It's a wonderful thing...............

I've just ordered this CD - I haven't even listened to it yet. But since it has "What About Me?", I know it will be fabulous. I tried to order this song back in 1986, and was told that it was out of print. I've searched off and on since then with no luck. I can't wait for it to come in the mail!

5.0 out of 5 stars Something on "What About Me" from DAYS OF INNOCENCE., July 12, 2004
By
This review is from: Days of Innocence (Audio CD)
I was actually surfing around for reviews and the like for Moving Pictures's DAYS OF INNOCENCE COLLECTION when I read Clint Grabill's review of it. To be honest, this is not a review of that aforementioned CD, but more of a note of interest to anyone (Clint included) who likes Moving Pictures, or, as is often the case with us 80s Gen-Xers, that sublime ballad "What About Me".

Anyway, like Clint, I love that song; not many songs quite tugs at the heartstrings as much as that one. And like Clint, it also took a few years before I found that song, on a CD, of all places. That was way back in 1991, when I was holiday in Melbourne. The CD is called TRAX AUSTRALIAN MADE II, and is released in 1988 by EMI Records Australia. It is a compilation of some of the best songs I've ever heard this side of awesome. Like the name suggests, the artistes on this CD are all Aussies (do correct me if I'm wrong, though), and what a brilliant bunch they are! Rather than delve into the details of the CD, go check it out for yourself. If you liked WAM, or that good ol' unique Aussie brand of pop/rock, I wager that you will not be disappointed. Hell, I'm still listening to it, 13 years on....

This Album brings tears to my eyes. Of all the goodtimes had during the early 80's. For those who like the songwriting skills look up the band 1927 from Australia, as you will find the same songwriting skills in the cds released as they are mostly written or co-written by G. Frost. By the way comebacks can come at anytime. You "NEVER" Know.

5.0 out of 5 stars At Last!, June 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Days of Innocence (Audio CD)
I've been searching for this album on cd for years. As a major fan of Alex and the boys, having seen them play live over 200 times, I can strongly reccommend it to anyone who misses the sound of '80's Aussie music scene. This debut album topped the charts in the early '80's and stayed up there for months. A mixture of rock, soul and rhythm and blues, no "30" something Australian music fan should be without it. Hopefully albums "Matinee" and "The Last Picture Show" will be re-released.

I've been searching for this for a long time and was so glad I found it!! I've checked other internet sites for this in the past, without any luck. Normally I don't buy a CD for one song, but the song "What About Me" was well worth the cost. Just as another reviewer commented, I play this song when I feel down about my life not being where I want it to be. I kind of felt like the song was about me. I will sugget this CD to a friend of mine who also likes this song.

I have had this album since I was 10. I agree that What About Me is such a great song, but how can you go past The Angel & The Madman? Busting Loose? Wings? The whole album is fabulous! A must buy if you really want to relive the flavour of the eighties.
