A "Catch 22" for the contemporary Middle East,
By Poco Ritard (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Days of Miracles and Wonders: An Epic of the New World Disorder (Emerging Voices Series) (Paperback)
Richard Lionheart rises from the dead to avenge past defeats and lead a modern crusade to the Holy Land. It doesn't turn out well: he ends up bussing tables in a nightclub. On the way Louvish takes you through the refugee camps, the contradictions of modern Israeli society, the televised murderous absurdity of the "Gulf War" and the irony, intrigue and insane factionalism that make up the landscape of Middle East Politics. Wordy, sometimes arcane, wickedly funny, always compassionate.
